Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Updating for last 2 days. Yesterday's recovery run was the worst run I've had in the 9 weeks of marathon training. I finished it, but it wasn't pretty. I think it's because I ran very early and only had a banana and water before running. Today was a speed workout. First 4 intervals were great, 5th one I wanted to quit and 6th and last one and I could smell the barn! I still really like this Hanson plan. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mitch Swim 0 - Bike 4 -Run 4 - Rest 1 - Total 8 - Time 5:45:22 35 min swim yesterday. Ankle still really sore despite having CMT work on it Monday. Decided to post pone any further running until we know what is going on there. Next stop is prolly going to be a physio consult. No limitation in range of motion and no pain to stretch area, but ligament over the outside of the ankle bone is extremely tender to touch. Alternating ice and heat not making much difference. Thoughts from the other runners? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Scott, sorry to hear about your ankle and not sure what should be done. When I had ITB issues with my right knee after the Chicago marathon and nothing in the book seemed to work, I got a shot with a disinflammatory solution and that worked wonders for me. Finally made it to the track very early in the morning and got a good 7.7 mi run w/ intervals (10 x 800m @6:50 min/mi pace + 200m jog in b/n) Mitch Swim 0 - Bike 4 -Run 4 - Rest 1 - Total 8 - Time 5:45:22 |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This morning in the shower, right after my run, I realized that we compete and love a sport that will penalize you for dropping a small gel wrapper on the road, but allows (and even encourages) public urination. that's it. No more. Keep training.

Actually, the rules are more less than same in the shower as well. |

![]() | ![]() My dear wife and I each won a contest today. Twin Cities in Motion, the organization that puts on the Twin Cities Marathon but also a bunch of smaller races throughout the year had a facebook contest to come up with a phrase for their Valentine's Day run and their St. Patrick's Day Run. She won the St. Patrick's day contest with " Race Me I'm Irish" and I won the Valentine's Day contest with "It is better to have run and lost than never to have run at all." We each get a $31 gift certificate to a local running shop. So I got that going for me. Which is nice. Carl: So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas.Angie: A looper? Carl: A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald...striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver, he hauls off and whacks one- big hitter, the Lama- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? "Gunga galunga...gunga- gunga lagunga." So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?" And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. First, its free The plan starts with a mileage similar to my current one (12-13 mpw), just split in 4 sessions, and goes up from there, another benefit. Have never run 4/wk before, and wanted to make sure I start slowly to try to avoid the injury bug. |

I've spent the last 1.5 months prepping (adding frequency/volume) to be ready. Chris has followed their full marathon plan. I like their emphasis on easy pace and frequency. That being said, their track workouts look like they will be tough. Good luck, when is your HM? |
