I'll play. HM training focus, so plan calls for 2 rest days a week (plus one cross-training day). Which training plan are you using? Hal Higdon Novice 2 HM plan. First, its free The plan starts with a mileage similar to my current one (12-13 mpw), just split in 4 sessions, and goes up from there, another benefit. Have never run 4/wk before, and wanted to make sure I start slowly to try to avoid the injury bug. All great thoughts. I downloaded one of their paid HM plans. I start it in earnest next week. I've spent the last 1.5 months prepping (adding frequency/volume) to be ready. Chris has followed their full marathon plan. I like their emphasis on easy pace and frequency. That being said, their track workouts look like they will be tough. Good luck, when is your HM? Yep. Mine is on February 17.Is this your first also? maybe for my next one I will add track/speed workouts. For now I tried the KISS HM approach. |

![]() I had a great 30 minute ride outside followed by a twilight 30 minute run. it was first ride outside in a long time. One of my 3 teenagers is struggling with motivation and apathy. He is really trying to pull himself out of it. There is nothing that motivates me more than when one of my kids needs me to help them along the way. I told our son, Benjamin, who is at a therapeutic boarding school in Montana, that i belonged to this great mentoring group with BT. I also shared with him some of my challenges with consistent motivation. Benjamin is cheering me on; we are trying to help each other. The goal is still within reach with 25 days left in the month - 17 more activities B/R/S, and 28.5 more hours. Only Hanson's. 5.30 mile run this evening. 9 PM, 29 degrees. Ran around a lake through neighborhoods and wooded park trails (bike trails). Very beautiful. Starry night, lots of Christmas lights in the neighborhoods. Wore a miner's light on my head, which worked great. And I feel like my mother when I was growing up. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Chris, thanks for cleaning. I can't get rid of the space in between lines every time I paste a line, as a result I try to minimise the pasting. Sorry. A 1hr ride for me this morning. Mitch Swim 1 - Bike 4 -Run 5 - Rest 1 - Total 10 - Time 7:06:41 Mark Z Swim 1 - Bike 2- Run 2 Rest 3 Total 5 Time 4:21:00 Charlotte, great! This kind of family support makes life easier for everyone involved. In my case the family is 'passive non-resistant' kind, which is good enough.

I know he recently did Hanson, which I'm doing now. Yep, my fault - mixed up Higdon and Hanson. That's the perils of posting while multi-tasking at work. I've done both free plans. I really like the Hanson's from what I've seen. I can't wait to see how it progresses beginning next week. I think this will be my 7th HM. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 40' swim this morning. After Wednesday's visit to the PT, I am cleared to continue with easy running (Ernesto - I mean easy!). Starting some AR therapy next week and the PF is making progress. To clarify, I was the one who recently used the Higdon Advanced free marathon plan, which I really liked and slightly modified to be more consistent with MAF training. I will need to look into Hanson next year. Markz - You can get rid of the spaces by selecting the area to be formatted and then click on the format drop down box and select paragraph. At least it works on a PC and a Mac - all bets are off on an ipad. Group Question: What happens when the next cycle for mentor group opens? Are we still a go? Sure hope so.
