I'm about to lay the smackdown on some people in that thread, so I'm just going to stay out of it before I destroy my computer monitor by throwing it against the wall...arg... Sometimes I am embarassed to call myself a Christian, let's just say. It really frustrates me. I wish I were more mature, spiritually, so I could fight the good fight a little better. But it's better to say nothing than misrepresent the faith. I felt that way too in my first year of college and stopped going to church altogether. I'll post what I was going to say here: I call myself agnostic, but not because I might reject God. I actually accept the Christian God, just not exclusively. I think there are a lot of possibilities and I can't really settle on one. Does that mean I don't pray? Or try to live well? Not at all. I just can't say that other people are wrong or that I have the right answers. Yeah, I've been pretty frustrated with my church lately, because I don't think the community is very conducive to the spiritual growth of those of us who aren't cradle-Christians. It's like every week, the pastor is preaching to the choir. And that annoys me. And so I've been church-shopping, because I don't want my faith to stagnate anymore or I know I'll try to turn back to where I was before, which wasn't exactly horrible, but I know it's not right. Sometimes that's what you need. My mom did a few years ago and is very happy with the direction of her new church. It's better for her and my siblings spiritually and she isn't embarrassed to bring the rest of the family there on holidays. She decided to leave when (on Easter) the preacher was ranting about how Saddam Hussein was the worst person in the world, no one loved him, and even God wouldn't love him. I almost got up and left, but I didn't so that I wouldn't make my mom feel bad. |

You're awesome? sweet. so the question is, with a million schools out there, how the heck do you narrow it down to a few to apply to? awww carp. I picked my school because I moved to Richmond, didn't have a job, and VCU was close with a program I wanted. You should have a lot of options fairly close. I know William and Mary has a distance learning center in Newport News that is catered towards people with jobs. Not sure what classes they offer. there are no decent engineering schools nearby. if i stay in NN, i'd have to do online. i'm not opposed to moving. Tech is about the closest, and if you are moving to Blacksburg, you could really move anywhere. University of Wisconsin is a good engineering school. |

I just can't say that other people are wrong or that I have the right answers. Actually, atheists don't reject god. They just don't believe one exists. In other words, saying `I don't believe in ghosts' isn't rejecting the ghost, it's just expressing non-belief in said spirit. |

Fair enough. I've heard the rejecting god argument from a few people, so that's what I was using. |

BUSINESS TIME holla i'm wearing my (goldtoe) business time socks. too bad all i do at business time is make out and grope inappropriately. See you're not supposed to be wearing your businesstime socks, you're supposed to be wearing your team building exercise '99 shirt. That's why you're only getting to the point of inappropriate groping. |
