I only got in 15 miles, but doing alright percentage wize 74.5 miles for the month.  However, I paid for missing last week's long run after about 12.5 miles.  I probably should have hit another GU in there.  I kind of underestimated the difference between 12 and 15 miles.  That 15 mph headwind for the last 7 miles did not help either.  Oh well got it done 8:30 pace meh.  The 18.5 mile race next Saturday could be um interesting.

Tod you are rocking everything.   It turns out that losing IM fitness is much easier than gaining it back 2 months later.  Man does it go fast.  In July a 17 mile run the day after a 100 mile bike ride was easier than a 15 mile run after a day off today.  Oh well.  Still a couple months to build before the mary, cringe.

Hey all. I also haven't posted in a bit, been a busy couple of days! All the kids are healthy now (yay!) and we're off on a weekend family trip. Unfortunately weather is lousy.... Got a short treadmill run in in the hotel workout room last night, and will try to get another in this morning before we head off to do some tourist stuff. I also need to update the spreadsheet... off to do that now....

CHALLENGE UPDATE!

It's a REALLY close challenge this month!

The CURRENT CHALLENGE STANDINGS are:
1st place - E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - 56.2%
2nd place - Crypt Keepers - 56.1%
3rd place - Running Pumpkins - 52.9%
4th place - Show Us Your Ghoulies - 50.9%

And in the SECONDARY CHALLENGE: (Because you KNOW there's always a secondary POST PADDING challenge!)....
Yeah, we know..... It's STILL Show us your Ghoulies by a landslide.
(Is anyone truly surprised?)

BUT with the standings this close, ANY TEAM CAN WIN IT!

Hey everyone. Keep up the good work. Only got in a brutal local 5k on a nasty, rainy, windy cold morning. Same weather on Sunday but just watched football and the Phils instead of braving it. Plan on a good week which will put me in good position to finish up early next week for my goal.

My dear fellow Pumpkins,
I've returned. I had a big couple of days last week workwise, with meeting with reps from the NIH to help set their research agenda for the next decade. Then as soon as that was over, WHAM. Sick as a dog. I nursed it a lot this weekend, but I'm still not up to par. I shouldn't need to adjust my goal though, since I'm already at the 60-70th percentile-ish. It started as a headcold but has progressed into a nasty chest cold. I'm hoping it's not some crazy H1N1 business.
Happy running to those of you still truckin'. I'll get back to it as soon as I can.
Riley

Yeah, but we are still a distant third.  We must, we simply must get our numbers up.

Is there a rule about how much extra we are allowed to have?  If a whole bunch of us ended the month at 150% of our goal (I wouldn't be one of those, by the way), that would go a long way to carrying those poor people who have been sick or (horrors) had too much to do at work.  I can maybe get to 10% above my goal, but I don't see more than that.

8 miles for me in the brisk fall weather, mid 40s, rain wind.

Nice 15 miler Jenny and on a weekday.  You are at 85 miles, I'm at 82 miles and Tod is at 87 miles for the month, pretty decent showing so far.

Actually if you go over your goal it does not go towards other people's goals.  You can't help them.  They can adjust their goal due to illness by the formula on the forum.  Like sick 2 days = 29/31 x goal = new goal. Or some such.  I could do that, but I think I will make my goal alright.  I only have 28 more miles to go and 18.5 of that should be completed on my race on Saturday.  Unfortnately they have flash flood wornings today in the area where the trail race will be.  I would put good money on no PR with 5 pounds of mud on each shoe and sliding down the trail like it was covered with snow.  Up should provide an additional challenge as should the stream crossings x 16 I think it is.

You can tell your wife is no longer a Southern Cal gal when you look outside considering what to wear for your daily run and say bah it is raining and the temp is 44F and she says well at least it isn't cold.

Keep running, lets get those numbers cooking.

Well, good luck with that. The formula in the spreadsheets caps it at 100%. So even if you go over your goal, it'll still show that you've achieved 100% of it.

Actually, some of the past challenges I've done DID allow you to help teammates out. But I've gotten meaner these days, so everyone is on his/her own.

And yes, people who have been sick or injured can adjust their goals:
Original goal x (total days healthy during the month / 31) = Revised goal

Right now, I wouldn't mind being in SoCal. I'd be warm, at least.

Evening team! Didn't have a chance to post much in the past fews days, busy training!

17 miles running Saturday and 93 miles biking done on Sunday. Recovery swim in today and ready to start the training week tomorrow with a run. Plan looks like two more long weekends, then the taper for IMAZ begins.

Saturday's run was enjoyable. I ran what used to be my bike training route when I first started last year. I thought someday it'd be great to be able to run that route and now I've done it.

Great job to those of you who are really cranking out the miles!  Those of you who have been sick: adjust your goals accordingly if necessary and then take care of yourself and get well!

Just under 2.5 miles for me today.  I'm only 7.75 miles away from goal and if all goes well I should be very close, if not there, by this weekend.  If it looks like I'm really going to crush my goal I'll increase it some, but since we can't go over 100% this month it doesn't really matter as long as I get there.
