Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Since this is a secret, and I can't tell my daughter, I have to tell you girls (I know, the guys are listening in). My daughter won a State Award in 4-H for her self-determined project on fitness. YAY! This means she gets to go to National 4-H Congress and compete for a national award! Wahoo! She developed a project to study fitness improvements, including weight loss, heart-rate recovery, and blood pressure, in people who were training for one or all three disciplines of triathlon. It was an incredible journey for her, and has inspired her to pursue a career in physical therapy or personal training. I'm so excited for her! |

Have I "graduated" from Achilles tendonitis to plantar faciitis? Oohh, be careful! PF is a frustrating pain to deal with. X2 |

Elite 3447 West Allis, WI | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Well I went to the dr...he scheduled an MRI and a hip xray. Also sent me to PT....made the appt for next Tuesday for the MRI and Xray. Just went to PT today. PT says to hold off on the other tests because he thinks it is just muscular and will be good to go in a few weeks....but still no running for me. I can start walking for 30 min if it doesn't hurt. I can start an easy 1 min jog during my walk after next week....So I will need to adjust my run goal. Should be good on my bike and will squeak by on my swim! Come on ladies...although I think my legs are one of my better assets I would prefer to see the men's! |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Alright, so I got a quick swim & run in this evening. And whaddya know, Rhoda totally called it... there was a cutie in the lane next to me! He was even wearing a 70.3 swim cap, which somehow made him more attractive (hmmmm!) Unfortunately he was there was his girlfriend/wife/woman friend who he talked to periodically during their rest intervals. Oh well, still some nice eye candy in the pool for once! Also, I think I'm going through Garmin withdrawal! I cut my run short because I felt slow and figured I was still sluggish from marathon recovery... But then when I calculated my pace based on the timer on my phone & mapmyrun, I was going faster than my usual pace! No wonder I felt tired so early in my run! |

On second thought.....see how Bill would prefer you handle that adjustment.....not my call to make. BUT, yes....adjust it! Recover well!! |

Elite 4201 washington state | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread I am back from vacation ... and the jam-packed work week that makes up for vacation. I know my goal % looks lousy, but I had actually planned for my workouts to tank in the middle of the month. I still have a "normal" week and two weekends to get back in the swing. Should be okay as long as I keep at it! The weather was great during vacation, but has gotten very windy and rainy since then. So I have ridden the stationary bike instead of outside. |

Elite 4201 washington state | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread On a weird note... My husband and I came home from work yesterday and entered the garage from the side door. (We don't park in the garage). Our lab stays in the garage when we are gone. Yesterday, when we walked into our locked garage there was also a little stray dog in with our lab! The only thing that we can figure out is that it came under the gate into the backyard and then into the garage. This could have happened while the side door was open while our lab was outside before I went to work. I can't remember if I left the door open or closed. But I left for work at 8:30 and everything was shut and locked at that time. I am guessing that it was just hiding in a corner. I didn't notice our dog reacting but I was zooming thru to go to work. We checked with some of the neighbors, but no one recognizes it. It is so timid and small, I don't see how it could have gone very far! Strange. |

Extreme Veteran 494 Morris County, NJ | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Went to an open-water swim clinic this morning. Man, it is always surprising how difficult it is to swim "out there." I took a few solid blows to the head, but I survived. Tuning up for a 1.2 mi river swim next weekend. Longest ever OWS for me, so I am pretty nervous. Enjoy the weekend. |

Champion 7931 Sequim, Washington | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread been really depressed this week...only made it to a couple of hours of school (usually 25 hours a week). Now I am (still) depressed and even further behind in school. woo hoo. Haven't gotten much in as far as workouts go. Hopefully I will scrape up some motivation and get to the pool and a spin class or two. It would be nice to get a bike operational again too. |

Keep a stiff upper lip like they used to say in jolly old England. Getting in a workout will help but I know its tough when your transportation is out of commission. |
