Breezy - 2010-07-22 12:31 PM Thanks for taking that rest day!

Sorry everyone. I ended up being a total slacker yesterday. No bike, no swim, no run, nothing. I smacked my head on a corner and cut my head open. Now I have a dilemma. I am scheduled for an ows tomorrow morning and really don't want to miss it. Now I can't get my head wet where the cut is. So I have a question for you. I've never used a swim cap before. Will the swim cap keep it dry or is swimming out for a week?

The swim cap will not keep it dry. Swimming is unfortunately probably out for a week.

I also took a rest day yesterday. I was only supposed to swim anyways, but I think my anesthetic line for my animal yesterday was leaking and I was exposed to a bit of isoflurane. Light anesthetic and only at a dose for a 550g animal, but I definately had quite the headache.

What kind of animal weighs just 550g?

Rats
Rat surgery?

Ya I'm working in a lab doing some work in kidney physiology. My project involves imaging of the kidney to measure blood flow data with a laser. We have to surgically prepare the animal under anesthetic and put in lines to maintain blood pressure, blood volume, etc.

Sounds interesting.

Almost sounds like someone "accidentally" had a leak because they wanted to get a little buzz and now is complaining about the hangover.

Haha. I wish. I doubt I would pick isoflurane as my drug of choice though. Volatile anesthetics arn't really my thing Wink

uhuh.  I am picturing this poor little critter on the table suffering as you cut it open while enjoying its anesthetics.  jk.

So, I have bronchitis.  I don't think I'm racing this weekend and I don't think I'm going to get any further on my bike goals for the month.  Sorry guys.  Don't know if I can reduce my goals or anything.

Challenge Rule No 8
If you have a temporary set back such as an illness (i.e a cold) then I will be using the following equation to calculate your goal reduction (if required). Total Goal/23 days (of the challenge) * number of days out of action = goal reduction for the challenge.

Well, then I'll cut down my goal according to that.

Finished up my ride for the day. Its been a good month. I've seen lots of progress, which isn't surprising since its the first time biking was my focus for training. I've met my time goal and have one more ride to get my count. I have a long ride tomorrow around a scenic lake.

Sorry you're sick. I've never had bronchitis but my wife has and it really doesn't look like fun. I hope you get better soon.

It's sucked for a lot of people.  The docs at work said they've seen a lot of asthma patients this year.
