For dog people, when I take Cooper out of his crate to go to the bathroom he pees on the floor or me before I can get him outside.  The book I read said puppies really dont have full bladder control until they're 16 weeks (he's 12 weeks).  Is that true? is there anything I can do to make this problem go away sooner? or give him a fighting chance to hit the grass?

suz what you're telling me is he does have pretty good bladder control.  he's learned that the crate is his home so he's not going to pee until he gets outside of it.  i think you just need to take him outside a bit more often.  its a pain for the first week or two but he'll figure it out.

another thing, as soon as you see him start to sniff around some where for more than a few seconds, get him outside.

he'll pick it up soon enough.  and there will always be accidents. maybe months or years apart as he matures.  try not to get to mad at him when it happens.  cooper doen't have "problems" suzy.  but he's got an awesome owner. ;-)

Thanks Kids.....I know it's only been 18 hours so perfection won't happen just yet

For those struggling with longer runs or events, I thought this article on neuromuscular resets was interesting.  I think the whole walking through water stops for IM was spot on.

I know it has been a long long time. i apologize but life has been pretty insane for me. I have 2 terms left for my Masters in Computer Science and it is working me to the bone. I haven't been able to swim for a while due to not having the time to make it to the pool since I have to drive about 30 minutes. I do have my mile under 10 minutes now and can run almost 4 miles or 5 miles at a time. I am spinning 3 times a week as well and lifting weights in hopes for a better and stronger year next year.

I have struggled at home as my wife is training for a work at home job and back to school so that is where some of the normal pool time is. I know real life comes first and I will be back to swimming as soon as I can. I was unable to do the tri this year as the one I was oging to do was eliminated by me having to work so....year 1 is down the tubes for me. Today was my first spinning class at 0615 which is insanely early but I feel pretty awesome.

Hey Suzy, sounds like Cooper is doing pretty good if he is not peeing in his crate.  You probably need to take him out more often...very often.  Always take him to the same spot and he will get the hang of it pretty quickly.

If you catch him looking, or even if he has started...grab him up and go with him.  Try not to scold him too bad to start with either...he'll learn.

2nd Cyclocross race this weekend for me DCCX (DC Cyclocross)  LOL, my coach is racing in the same class as I am, he told sam he was going to slap my a$$ when he came by me since he starts a few rows behind me.  I told her to relay that if so I would blow myself up catching back up to put a frame pump in his spokes (think breaking away)

Anyways I switched to the minamilist at the suggestion of my coach.  I think he is of the belief that the shoes with the big drop from heel to toe do more damage to your run than help.  (LOL, is that what he said sam?)  Either way I went into them pretty skeptical but have turned into a believer since.

38.9 degrees outside this morning. I can tell you that it was my first super early morning spin class and I am so ready for bed now. I was working on a project for school until 11 pm so I didn't get much sleep. I also had to watch the biggest loser.

Does anyone else watch it? I like the idea but I just hate the fact that they kick them off, seems wrong to me. I am assuming they get help as each of hte members that are voted off look amazing and are still losing weight. I think Jillian Michaels is super attractive but if she trained me I dont think I could handle it. She just seems a little rude to me. Tonight is my other show, Hell's Kitchen.

I know, I just felt bad, I thought about trying to get on and post as much as I could but just didn't get to it. I also started weight watchers with my wife. I did it mostly for her as she cant do it alone and if I do it the support is really helping her. Since the last time I spoke on here I am down to 255 (273 was my last weigh in on BT). I am feeling really good and only have about 30 lbs left. My clothes are already ridiculously big.

My Doug has switched to a minimal running shoe.   K-Swiss K-Ona (not positive on the style but I'm sure it's a K-Swiss tri minimal runnig shoe).  He really likes them.  His only problem was he didn't make the switch in running style correctly so he's gone out and ran all of his runs on the balls of his feet, been doing that for about 7 weeks.   Later his coach told him he should do the first 30 seconds of every mile in the new position and that it will take 4-6 months to complete the form change.   That explains the extremely sore calves he is experiencing now.  Oops.  But overall he gives them a big thumbs up.

Cooper is too cute!!!!

I was looking to switch to the new balance minimalist shoe once I got to a lower weight. After Born to Run i just have to try it out and see if it helps some of my issues.

badgerintx - 2010-10-19 12:08 PM Still undecided between the Oly or the 1/2 at Rev3.  Now I am working with my sister on dates for my Godson's first communion to ensure that I don't get trumped by family obligations.  However, I am leaning towards the 1/2 right now just because.  I have a room booked at the Hilton for Saturday night. (best rate and Honors member)(

Sorry to all the Boston Peeps.....that sucks.  Nothing else, it just sucks! Cry

Suzy....Great name.  They used to make great Hockey Gear! (Don't even know if they are in business anymore?  Maybe a little help from our Canuck friends here....?)  We expect more pictures when he gets home!

On a training note....Endurance Nation out-season is kicking my A$$.  I thought I was in decent shape, well, has become obvious that I thought wrong  ..... back to see "the Mistress" for more LT work later today!

From Wikipedia: "Canstar Sports Inc., the parent company of hockey product manufacturer Bauer Hockey, acquired the hockey division of Cooper in 1990, and was itself acquired by Nike five years later." Remember the Cooperalls?

Yup. I wore cooperalls for about 6 years. I really liked them. Comfortable and light.

No racing for me, but a big day (today) for my family.
Today is Dad's last treatment.  And he has he no side effects.
Will not have any results until 3 & 6 mo check-ups...but I like to celebrate all positives!

BTW - Cooper is super cute.
I agree with John's doggie tips

The "Donkai" Frozen-Man is this weekend.  10 minute swim in a 50 degree lake, 1 hour group ride with no drops until the last 2 miles, and a 2 mile (sprint) run.  Don't know if they are doing beer and brat transitions again this year....we will see what they have up their sleeves.  Weather is supposed be low 50's with Rain, so it will be a real frozen man!  Not really a race but tons of fun.  Tried to get Suzy to come but she is afraid to leave Cooper alone!!  Innocent

Minimalist shoes-  have not made the switch yet, but my guy at the running store wants me out of what I am running in now because, "I am a pure mid-foot striker and have too much weight on my heels that I don't need anymore..."  Still have a couple of hundred miles left on my shoes so we will see what I end up in, probably will end up being a Christmas present at current mileage pace.

Will he pee if you are carrying him? You could try carrying him until he's outside, then put him down and praise like crazy when he goes!!

Also, now is a good time to start shaping behavior for a "GO POTTY NOW" command of your choosing. Pick one you are comfortable with using in public. I use "hurry up!" A friend uses "Do your business," (and then it's funny to hear the praise, "Goooood business!"). Anyway, this can come in handy in the future and is easy to train now.
