I'm thinking of doing the practice race this weekend.  Can't decide which distance.  Probably will do the 600/24/3.  I want to try out the wetsuit if it comes in.  WE will see.

That is what I signed up for.

BTW, Sicone that was an good race.  I'm shocked that better than a 9 minute mile running is only good for 43/44.  In my area that would be MOP or so.

I think it's just bad luck geography wise. I do almost all of my racing in the East Midlands which is were you'd find Loughborough Sports Science university (home of British Triathlon) so I think there is a higher than average quality of triathletes around here - there were a few team GB athletes in the race!

So that would be like us racing in Boulder.  GB is pumping out some serious triathletes.

I haven't signed up for anything sorry. It appears I'll be weilding a chainsaw again this weekend trying to clean up debris at the lake. I will get some training in somehow though...

This week I'm racing short but training long and need some scheduling advice.

This Saturday I've got a mini-sprint tri (250yds/8mi/2mi).  I just started a new HIM training plan on Sat I'm supposed to do brick, 2hr ride & 45 min run.  Given that I'll be racing that day I was thinking of only doing the 2hr ride after the race.  Sunday is a long run of 80 min so I can't push anything to that day (or would rather not).  Either way it's a busy weekend!

Thoughts?

Yikes! Stay healthy and get that kid quarantined!  Kidding, I don't have kids and have no idea what I'd do.  Good luck with your race.

Plan sounds good to me. Definitely get the ride in after the sprint.

That sucks.  Are you doing anything for it?  I believe rest (or at least low intensity) and stretching or other exercises are the best way to recover.

My self prescribed treatment has consisted of some stretching, foam rolling, the stick, and about 12 Advil daily.

Have you considered adding scotch to your treatment plan?

I'd be in the water for at least 8 hours.  Yeah - that pretty much shatters my "fun" threshold.  I'll pass.

I did note the coupon for next year, though!

I don't love swimming that much.  Now a 100 miler, I'd be up for that.  Maybe next November.

glasses and training don't mix well for me.  And my eye is VERY sensitive to light.  Any suggestions?

Let it heal. And don't swim unless you are sure you can keep the water out.  It can get quite infected then.

Those scratches heal quick.  You'll be back in no time.

Hey guys!  I am terrible!  I have not checked in or even read the posts here for at least the past week.  We are having some major issues with our 4 year old and I have not been online much.  I have been on to log my lousy workouts and that is it.  Because of family stuff, I have missed too many long runs and will not be running my marathon this weekend.  At this point, I plan on selling my bib for MCM in October too.  Training is just way too much for me right now with my littles.  I feel as though I need to do right by and for my boys and I don't think I have been doing that training for the longer distances.  I made the tough decision a few weeks ago to go back to working out for fitness and not actually training.  It sucks being a mom sometimes!

I have barely ran since making that decision but have been weight lifting more and biking.  I even got to the pool last night for a swim.

Things are slowly getting better and also slowing down at work.  I am going to catch up today and promise to be active!
