BrianRunsPhilly - 2013-01-09 4:16 PM Those of you on the 30 week Fink plan, could you post what the weekly totals are supposed to be for comparison to what those of us doing other plans are doing? Just curious!

Got in a good 45 minute bike ride on the trainer then did a brick run afterwards outside...maryland weather has been great for winter!  In terms of hours for the Fink plan for the first phase:

For phase 1 (weeks 1 - 10)

1. (Swim, Bike, Run) 2, 2, 2

2. 2, 2.5, 2.5

3. 2, 3, 3

4. 2, 2.5, 2.5

5. 2, 3, 3

6. 2, 3.75, 3.25

7. 2, 4.25, 3.75

8. 2, 3.75, 3.25

9. 2, 4.5, 3.5

10. 2, 5, 4

Yeah, this weekend's ride will be much better than last weekend.  I may even be able to feel my hands by the time I finish!

It was great being able to ride outside here in Jersey!! Looking forward to running outside tomorrow in the nice weather. I'm going to try and find some organized century bike rides in the Spring. Anyone know of any in Central Jersey?

I rode 75 miles today.  Foggy in the morning...but wonderful to be out that long.

How was your Saturday?

Hey Kent and everyone!

Only rode 37 miles here, but that included 4500' of climbing. 2:45 total with good sustained, hard intervals: IF=.90 and TSS=225 for the total ride. A really great ride all around. Crazy to be in the mountains in 65 degree weather here in January - it was pushing the mid 70s in the valleys! Cold is coming though. Ah, well...

Got a good trainer ride watching the Ravens/Broncos game. Almost an hour at 100%FTP...skipped the short run after. Long run tomorrow...
Thinking of buying a new mountain bike...any suggestions? Really would like to get outside riding as soon as cold breaks...

Morning all, another week of training in the books. It was a rest week for Boston training, so run mileage was down, and I started swimming again. Feeling good!

Totals:

Swim: 1600 yards

Bike: 2:35

Run 3:42 (25.8mi)

Are you using a special plan for Boston?  I qualified for 2014 and was just wondering what your mileage was like.

In terms of training times this week:

Swim: 1.5 Hours (5100 Meters)

Bike: 3 Hours (58 Miles)

Run: 2.5 Hours (21.22 Miles)

Strength: 2 Hours

Total: 9

Ill add some data from the week. I also cannot wait for Boston. I live here, did not qualify, but cant wait to watch. It is a lot of fun, probably better to run it rather then watch it.

Swim: 1:52:00 (6200y)

Bike: 3:06:48

Run: 2:18:14 (15.41mi)

Strength: 1:15

Oops, my pool is on meters. I'm basically substituting my IM run training with a marathon training plan I used in 2010. It's less mileage than I did to BQ, but I was only doing run training at that time. I'll max out at 50mpw for Boston. Plus all I care about for Boston is a decent-ish finish and staying healthy.

Hey all; have been enjoying the relatively balmy weather up here in the NE.  Got both my long run and long bike outdoors, which is pretty incredible for January!

For the week:

1.5 hours swim

3.0 hours bike

2.5 hours run

Good ride today (1:50 in the drizzle but still 50 deg), with a fair amount of hills (857 climbing), but not overwhelming.  It is still early, but feeling pretty good.  How did everyone else do this week?  Looking forward to the rest day, for sure.

Are any of you doing the Raleigh Ironman 70.3 on June 2?  It will be my "tune up" for Lake Placid.  Rusty, it is a pretty long drive from your neck of the woods, but not out of reach.  Anyone want to join me there?

Last week: 2:15 in the pool, 3:00 on the bike, 4:00 on the run
Total of just over 9 hours.

This week, I've missed a couple of workouts as today is the first day I can stand without feeling the overwhelming nausea. Monday was fine, as I only missed the rest day ... but I missed yesterday's run and today's brick as well. I should be able to get into the pool tonight after work. I was on a good groove, so it sucks to miss ... but had to happen.

Hope you're all avoiding the crap that's spreading around.

Hope you feel better soon. Yeah, my biggest fear right now is getting sick. I had someone in my office yesterday coughing up their lungs. Thanks for showing up for work - not!

Did 1000m in the pool and 7 mile run. Only took a week to go from zero to 1km, so I am kind of happy.

I wind up doing everything back to back because of time constraints. Does anyone else find it hard to run after you get out of the pool? The first 10 minutes are really bad.

I just started taking a GNC Multivitamin and getting in Vitamin C just to avoid the flu.  I work in a hospital so the flu is kind of hard to avoid.

My bike is definitely my weak link and my running is my strength.  I've decided to take away one of the running days of the fink plan and replace it with a bike ride.  I also bought some Spinervals DVDS (the Kona and the Lake Placid courses) to keep me motivated.  I don't like riding on the roads unless I'm with a group and my cycling group doesn't start up until March so I have about 2 more months of my trainer :-\.  Keep up the strong training everyone! I'm loving training...so far.

Not as hard as it's going to be after riding 112 miles.  Laughing

Take your time, feel better and get back after it. Not worth trying to train when you are ill. Don't ask me how I know???

It's getting there.  Can certainly feel it when I get tired in the pool though and it wears out faster than the right.  But that's ok...it's getting there.
