1st Timer in NY - 2008-02-09 10:33 PM Umm... I think aliens took over my body for a few minutes, or I started smoking dope again or something, but I REGISTERED FOR MUSSELMAN HIM (July 13)!!!! I was going to keep it a secret and DNS if necessary, but I think outing myself will force me to train. Turning it into a family vacation, and I have additional family in the area, so it will be a great week in the Finger Lakes. Goal is just to toe the line and cross the line on the other end.

YES!!!!!!! CAN I LIGHT THE BAR-B-QUE NOW!!!!

Congrats Tim!! You are going to have the time of your life!!! I am even more excited for this race!!

I hope I can be there at Musselman.  I have IMCDA already and then I said yes to fly and watch IMAZ and jockstrap Tam again.  I even notified the family that I'll be home for a couple of days in April.  They are excited too.

We'll see how my plans to not travel so much works this year.  I like to travel but I'm feeling the onset of age as it takes time for me to recover from even a non-stop weekend.

HELP...my feet are falling asleep when I ride.  This is new...they didn't use to.   I have loosened my shoes to the point that I can pull my foot right out.  I'm hoping it's because my a$$ is a little smaller and the blood flow in there is not as cushioned.  Any ideas?

Mine used to fall asleep but mine were because my shoes were too tight and after long distances I was swelling in my shoes too.  I had to get wider toe area for my tootsies.  Now my lil sausages have plenty of room and no more sleeping.

Hmm I can only think of tight/crammed toes and not necessarily the heal area.

hey there..  I did have some issues back when I got new shoes..   It turns out that my cleats were attached a little to the front which forced me to pedal with my toes pointing down.  After I moved the cleats just a few mm backwards to make sure I was pedaling with the balls of my feet, numbess went away...

hope this helps

Trixiroonie!!!

Carla, I have had numbness in my feet cycling as well and cured it by adjusting the cleats a little bit. It doesn't take much of an adjustment to make a difference. Just loosen the screws on the cleats and move them a tiny bit.

I hope this helps you out.

hey everybody...  good morning..

I have been nursing this cold that comes and goes..  I thought it was over, but it came back last night.    I barely could sleep... agg!!      I had a spin session this morning that went down the toilet.  I woke up, but I did not want to go knowing that I barely slept all night long.   Run planned this afternoon, hopefully I will feel better..

How is everybody today?

I'm thinking of posting one that i received.. I'll show ya when I get home.

I played foozeball at lunch with Dave.. The back of my head is about to explode now. . I used a lot of blood in such a short amout of time.  Too much excitement.  That can be logged as a workout can't it?

This is a constant problem for me.  It begins to feel like ice water is pouring through my veins of my second and middle toe, predominantly on the right side, but sometimes on the left.  I usually ride with my toes curled up for a few minutes and that cures it for a bit.  It is a problem that I also have when I run, it is annoying to sometimes painful.  But who doesn't like pain?????

trixie - 2008-02-12 5:09 PM Hi. I'm doing nothing today. Tomorrow I'm flying to Arizona.  I shall hike/run up a mtn when I get there. YAY ME!!

I was going to say Have Fun, but then I remembered that the true spelling of Trixie is: F-U-N !

Bob/Fellow Mentees:

MY first ever HIM is in July and the course has 5 AID stations on the bike approx 10 miles apart.  Now I'm a true BoPer and the extra minute or 2 isn't going to make much of a difference in my overall time/placement.  Should I just count on the on-course nutrition/hydration to meet my needs, provided I train with what they provide?  Anybody actually stop at an AID station during the bike portion of a HIM.

Hey Tim!!

I try to keep things as simple as I can for nutrition. In years past at Musselman the on course hydration has been Heed by Hammer Nutrition and it tastes like sweat. I bring the gels I need in a flask or two, my Gatorade endurance in my water bottles and have water in my NeverReach Hydration System. The HammerGels they offer are pretty good and I can't remember what else is on course.

The ride is absolutely beautiful, except for the 22% grade hill that goes on for about 2 miles by the prison, you are going to love it!! You can go change your shorts now, I was just kidding about the hill!!

There are people that stop at the aid stations, don't forget to thank the volunteers!! You will enjoy the weekend and there is plenty of swings and a small beach for the kids to play in too!!
