fattyfatfat - 2012-11-21 5:58 PM Good luck racing peeps. I'll be spending some time this week trying to figure out how not laugh, really hard, when saying big 10. Can't wait for Wisconsin / rutgers game next year. Bwahahahahahaha. So funny!!!

I refuse to tangle with you when I am supposed to be thankful for you.

It's all about recruiting. the $$$$$$, in new jersey.

Fixed that for ya!  Been waiting for Terps to talk a little smack since Maryland is in now also........  waiting ..... waiting......  waiting.....

Have a Great Thanksgiving everybody, including the Canucks!  Foot in mouth

Dino, it is out of my control so I accept the positives. At first, I was not happy. But this move will allow Maryland to reinstate many of the NCAA sports it had to cut do to lack of $$. Also, as you mentioned recruiting will benefit too.

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY MG!

I AM THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU!!

Well Happy post Thanksgiving to you all...hope everyone enjoyed the festivities. Just when I thought I was going to be be back in action got hit with a nasty virus, so spent Thanksgiving curled up on the couch while the family was "thankful" they did not get what I had.

Did I hear my alma matar mentioned...and my home state? Ok well not my undergrad alma matar and it is my adopted home state...but it still all counts. We are talking about the house that Ray built? Go Scarlet Knights

Didn't know you were a Scarlet Knight.  Welcome to the Big 16, or how ever many teams there are now.

I hope everyone celebrating t-day in the US had a great weekend and that you are all back into training to knock off those extra pounds you picked up.    I did my last race of the year today - a half marathon which I PR'd last year.   The short story is that I finished in 1:40:45 and knocked another 23 seconds off my PR.  The RR is here for your reading pleasure.

Quick note to all......

We lost my Dad late Wednesday night.  It was very peaceful at the end, and he really didn't want to go on Thanksgiving, so I'm sure he's smiling at us all now, he beat it by an hour. A rough time ahead, but a relief in many ways.  He's at peace, I'm sure.

We had family plans to run the Turkey Trot, so we did.  I got home from my Dad's at about 5am, and we raced at 8.  Zach won the entire event, and brought home a huge pumpkin pie.  I got third in my AG (nice medal, no pie), and Zach slightly outran me - by 12 minutes in a 10k.

My big kids were home for the holiday, what a blessing.  They drove back to school today, and are safe and sound in the LA area now.  They'll be home again in two weeks for the services.

Linda,   I'm very sorry to hear that your Dad passed away, but it is great to hear how you and your family are working through it.  Try to think of your favorite memories when you run into those down moments - at least that worked for me.  Getting out for a run or bike ride (and some think time for yourself) is also a great way to help deal with the stresses.

Well the doctor has told me to wait another week before I exercise. I dont want to wait (he says while stamping his feet

Do doctors really know what they are talking about? What makes them such an authority? Do I have to listen to him? Can someone else give me permission to go to the gym? Pleaseeeeee......

What is the issue again? and is there any residual pain standing or walking?  When I had my SFX, I was off running for 6 months.  Every time we thought I could come back, it would hurt when I tried to run.  That was my indicator.  I slowly came back a couple of times.  If it hurt post, the PT said it was ok.  If it still hurt the next day, I had to take the rest of the week off.  It's frustrating, but it would be worse to have a major setback.

PS.  I don't know if your doctor knows a thing about sports med.  I assume he must since you went to see him. Surprised

With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas a ways away, we need to refocus our efforts on some working out!  Who's racing this weekend?  what's the plan?

And for those of us not racing, how can we spice up the MG?  I get the feeling we're a little bored around here with the lack of visits and dialogue, myself included!  a challenge? something else?

At this point it makes no sense to go to the gym now. What is the harm in waiting one more week? That being said remind us of the injury? I mean if you have an ankle injury or something the yes I would rule out running, but you can swim.... Use a pull buoy and swim away. If it is a cold of sorts.... Do want the doctor says... Strengthen the immune system first.

No race.

But I have been secretly doing my own CHALLENGE this last month. It started off innocently enough. I really wanted to run alot this month. Not necessarily volume, but quantity. When I got half-way through the month, I realized I was a few runs behind the pace of 30 runs in 30 days. Since the 13th, I've missed one day. With my learn to run group, I have been doubling up runs on Wed & Fri. So currently at 25 runs in 27 days. Shortest has been ~4K, longest was my half on the 11th. They haven't necessarily been 'hard' runs, but I wanted to train my mind to get out there and just run.

I'll run at lunch today, then easy run with my group tonight. Tomorrow lunch. Friday early morning or lunch, then evening with group to get to 30 in 30.

So stealth!  By quantity you mean the number of times, right? otherwise volume and quantity are the same thing to me. Tongue out  What's the objective? build strength?

yes number of runs, not number of km's. Objective is just trying to do it. I imagine it'll add some strength, but honestly with my injury back in April-June, I didn't run that much up to IM this year. It's November and I still like running, so I figured I'd capitalize on it.
