Here's a total I'm proud to post.

November 2012

Run:19h 46m 58s  - 100.7 Mi

Edited to add that 80 of those miles were on the trails!

And edited yet again because I don't know what year it is.  Did I mention all this running is making me stupid?

Awesome Jayne nice job !!

Did I mention that all this sitting around is making me fat lazy and.......stupid

What do you have to say for yourself this month?  Jayne's way ahead of the crowd!

For me, intensity and cross-training were the name of the game!  Having fun doing it too.

"Two to the left" is what Suzy meant to say, but the link icon is three to the left of the tree.  Anyway, November was kind of slow for me.  I'm expecting to get back on track in December.   Winter has arrived here in Sendai - we are getting some light snow flurries as I type.  Have a great weekend everyone and good luck to the racers.

November's totals:
Bike:9h 05m 12s  - 272.5 KM
Run:7h 33m 56s  - 82.1 KM
Swim:13h 35m  - 15300 M

Run:

19h 06m 28s - 163.83 K

I had to do 2 runs today. One was this morning, a wee bit hung over, after the group christmas party last night went a little long. Number two was the LTR group tonight.

But I can say now I ran 30 times in November!

I think may try to ride my bike again now. Or swim. We'll see.

Nice job, Trevor.  Running off the hangover?  That's hard core!

We had an annual charity walk when I was a student that involved walking a full marathon course along a canal with Guiness as the only drink provided at the drink stations! The first year I did it I'd busted my knee falling off a bike drunk the night before but still got out there and drank my way through the first few miles before my knee became so painful I couldn't go on. I then had to hitch back into the city and couldn't walk down stairs for 6 weeks due to the knee pain. Probably explains a lot about my running problems now...Fun times!

added a link to your RR above.  Nice job toughing out that run.  I cramped on the run during my first HIM and suspect it was mostly due to not having enough time on the bike during training combined with pushing the uphills harder than I should have on the bike.   This year I had a few more long rides and I set a max power cap for the hills that I did not go over - no cramps.

Suzy,

For the most part I was very impressed with their organization, race support etc. and the transition area was really great. That being said since it was my first long distance I really have nothing to compare it too so maybe they are all equally good.

Dan,

Thanks.  I am guessing that lack of longer brick training was at least part of the contributing factor to the cramps, as was the warmer than expected temp.  I plan to step up my training for hills and longer bricks prior to Oceanside in March along with adding some supplements to my regimen.

Anyone ever order from Bike Inn?  They have some good prices on my favorite bike shorts and tires (conti 4000s-$37/tire!).

I notice the shipping charge is pretty steep but if it's a reliable company, it might be worth it, since the shorts are almost $50 less than regular price.

When you say longer bricks what are you thinking? I urge you to avoid anything "long." I don't really recall ever going 4-5 miles directly off a long ride (in training for both half's and full's). To ME I use a brick to settle in off the bike, check nutrition, check pacing, and get the legs used to coming off the bike. Not beating the crap out of my body. I will do a long run the following day.

I have used Wiggle (UK based) because they actually did free shipping to Japan.  Bikeinn is apparently based in Spain.  I could not find any references on either BT or Slowtwitch, but I did find this:

http://forums.mtbr.com/where-best-deals/bike-inn-808963.html

and

http://es.trustpilot.com/review/www.bikeinn.com   (there are quite a few English language comments if you keep scrolling down).

Looks like some people are very satisfied and others are moaning about shipping delays and "out of stock" notices post order placement.

Thanks, Dan!  I am in no big rush, so I suppose the discount is worth it if I am willing to wait out shipping issues.  Hoping not to need my new tires until spring time.

Nice that you found free shipping to Japan!!! Wow, I will have to check around a little bit more.

Bruce,

Thanks, I used a plan that I created using the free 20 week plan from BT as a baseline and then input from a couple coaches that are friends.
