Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Ok, I have decided it is hot in Tucson (yup, just figured that out) and that during long rides two water bottles is not enough. I could wear a Camelbak but I would rather not. Stopping at a store is sometimes an option but actually is a rare option for me where I do a lot of my rides. So I need a solution. Who has a behind the seat holder? And for those who do what one do you have and has it ever ejected a bottle? The roads of Tucson have some pretty rough spots due to all the flooding they get so this thing needs to be fairly bomber proof. |

Here's a link to some of the photos from the day. Swim Meet Love the pics. Justin's suit wasn't nearly obscene as I had imagined (what does that say about me?) I know the guys had a great time, the gals did great in their races and the pictures are awesome! |

Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! kcarroll - 2010-07-11 5:51 PM Hi everybody. Finally back home from the Cape. Nantucket Tri done, although nothing to brag about other than finishing. Will try to get a race report done later (I'm not so dependable about writing those), but have a couple bags of wet, dirty clothes to deal with tonight. This is the first race I've ever done with a noon start (to allow for ferry travel to the island that morning.) While you Texans will scoff at my wimpiness, completing s/b/r of any distance in 88° and almost 100% humidity is close to inhumane. I have a new found respect for your version of htfu. And if you ever organize a race, an out and back bike coarse on narrow, two lane roads which are open to traffic, is a recipe for crashes no matter how many nice cops you put out there. I had to unclip twice and brake going up hill to avoid collisions on several occasions. That said, there were lots of cool things about the race. First of all, Nantucket is just a beautiful place to spend a day - or two. Senators Kerry and Brown were at the race (Brown placed in his AG, Kerry was spectating) and Jenny Thompson (as in hall of fame swimmer) competed. Locals were terrific and had hoses out in full force to help cool us off during the run. Several non official water/lemonade stands were also available throughout the course, which was fun. This race was part of a girl's long weekend for me, so no complaints. The post race activities were light (aka nil) so we went back down to the beach and cooled off in the ocean. Showered, changed and had a late lunch/early dinner plus a few recovery beers in town before taking the ferry back to the Cape. Hope everyone else had a nice weekend! Thanks for the update. We are anxiously awaiting the RR I am sure you are working on The all girls weekend sounds like a blast! |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Thanks for the birthday wishes!! Now a "why the dmv sucks" story for you enjoyment..... So I know I've told you I was born in Sweden. This tends to complicate things or well it did before we got dual citizenship. My parents took the tests/oaths and got citizenship before annie and I turned 18 so we became automatically citizens through them receiving citizenship (had we been 18 we would've had to take the tests and stuff too) So I thought things would be easier now. Getting my permit and license when I was 16 was a hassle as we had to show several different documents to prove we were residents and not here illegally etc. So today I went to renew my license which expires today (yeah i tend to put things off to the last minute, not a great idea!!) So I fill out the paper work and finally they call my name. Well the lady's just a witch with a capital B to start with, no hello, no introduction, no how are you... could have dealt with that until she looks at me suspiciously and says when did you get this license.... ugh what now?? So i told her I got it when i was 16 and then she asks if I'm a citizen. Fought the urge to say well that would be why i checked the box saying I was a citizen dummy and just said yes. She proceeds to question me on when i got citizenship and then tells me she needs to see documentation. At this point, I'm starting to feel like she thinks I'm here illegally and the word documentation as well as her telling me they need to know why I'm here (in the U.S.) repeatedly are extremely frustrating... Do I look like a terrorist?? I don't even have an accent anymore, I'm obviously very americanized. To start I don't have documentation as I gained citizenship through my parents, all i have is a passport so she tells me she needs to see it. I try to explain its 3 hours away in Orangeburg but mom could definitely fax a copy. But of course they need the original. I try to tell her there's no way I can get it today and I need a new license as it expires today. She basically tells me not to drive at all as if that's even an option... I try to argue with her saying that obviously I already have a valid SC license and that should be more than enough to get me a new one. I mean I just need a renewal how hard is that?? So after a good 15 minutes of arguing with this woman and feeling like she's ready to report me to the government to have my citizenship be investigated I gave up. Now mom has to overnight my passport to me so I can get a new license tomorrow. |

Extreme Veteran 599 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Happy birthday Emma! Enjoy being 21!!! (Sorry to hear about the problems with your license. Seems like every state has a slow Dept of Public Safety and employs the most unhappy people. Or maybe it's b/c they work there, they are unhappy? Whatever the case, I hope you get your new license soon!) Great racing Kelli and Kim! Looking forward to the RRs. |

Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! I have a behind the seat holder for my training bike so I can carry 4 bottles (aerodrink, 1 downtube, 2 rear) and I still have to refill on all rides >50mi. I've never had a bottle eject but I've had the cage completely break at the welds a couple times and lost some bottles. I've found the mountain bike aluminum cages are the best, they're much beefier than the normal cages. Also ejecting depends on the angle you put the cages, I put mine straight up/down so they're not angled like most people have them. bzgl40 - 2010-07-12 7:04 AM Ok, I have decided it is hot in Tucson (yup, just figured that out) and that during long rides two water bottles is not enough. Here's a link to some of the photos from the day. Swim Meet That's what that sounds was?!?! I thought someone was going to yell... GO! I wanted to hang out in the ready position for more than .5 seconds but the folks running the thing (and most of the other swimmers) were ready to go. I finally did pretty well in the relay (just waiting for the swimmer to get back - plenty of notice here) but I SCREWED the dive. If you heard what you thought was a clap of thunder in Houston that was me hitting the water in Bay City. It was all new to me - I had never jumped off those "blocks" before in my life. Similar to my first swing with a golf club ...in a tournament with pretty houses on the fairway. Sorry for those slices folks! |
