LOL I thought I heard something around then. I'm just giving you a hard time

Looks like it was a fun day, hopefully we can join next time something like that goes down!

evondo - 2010-07-12 11:33 AM Nice pics!

Ken you know when the gun goes off it's time to go right? Justin's already in the water and you're on the block in one of the pics!

Great job everyone!

roadrhino - 2010-07-11 2:08 PM Had a great time at the swim meet yesterday and enjoyed the camraderie of Ken and Justin who made the early morning trip to join in the festivities. Here's a link to some of the photos from the day.

Swim Meet

That's what that sounds was?!?!  I thought someone was going to yell... GO!

I wanted to hang out in the ready position for more than .5 seconds but the folks running the thing (and most of the other swimmers) were ready to go.  I finally did pretty well in the relay (just waiting for the swimmer to get back - plenty of notice here) but I SCREWED the dive.  If you heard what you thought was a clap of thunder in Houston that was me hitting the water in Bay City.

It was all new to me - I had never jumped off those "blocks" before in my life.  Similar to my first swing with a golf club ...in a tournament with pretty houses on the fairway.  Sorry for those slices folks!

While you may shave your head, chest, arms and legs, I can still tell that you are a brunette.

Please do not wear white swimmy shorts in the pool.

Glad you had a good time and I am looking forward to the RR.

kcarroll - 2010-07-11 5:51 PM Hi everybody.  Finally back home from the Cape.  Nantucket Tri done, although nothing to brag about other than finishing.  Will try to get a race report done later (I'm not so dependable about writing those), but have a couple bags of wet, dirty clothes to deal with tonight.  This is the first race I've ever done with a noon start (to allow for ferry travel to the island that morning.) While you Texans will scoff at my wimpiness, completing s/b/r of any distance in 88° and almost 100% humidity is close to inhumane.  I have a new found respect for your version of htfu.  And if you ever organize a race, an out and back bike coarse on narrow, two lane roads which are open to traffic, is a recipe for crashes no matter how many nice cops you put out there.  I had to unclip twice and brake going up hill to avoid collisions on several occasions. That said, there were lots of cool things about the race.  First of all, Nantucket is just a beautiful place to spend a day - or two.  Senators Kerry and Brown were at the race (Brown placed in his AG, Kerry was spectating) and Jenny Thompson (as in hall of fame swimmer) competed.  Locals were terrific and had hoses out in full force to help cool us off during the run.  Several non official water/lemonade stands were also available throughout the course, which was fun.

This race was part of a girl's long weekend for me, so no complaints.  The post race activities were light (aka nil) so we went back down to the beach and cooled off in the ocean.  Showered, changed and had a late lunch/early dinner plus a few recovery beers in town before taking the ferry back to the Cape.

Hope everyone else had a nice weekend!

Awesome race!  Nice job recovering from the dropped chain and still finishing first in the AG!

KelliD - 2010-07-11 8:14 PM

Race this morning was awesome...so much fun!  Really happy with how I did, with the exception that I dropped my chain twice, couldn't pick it up and had to get off (mid-uphill) the bike both times.  Even so....PR by 3 minutes and 1st in my AG

RR to follow soon.

Not sure if it's just me, but the run time total in the sprint distance is wacky... it's listing my 10:40/mi. pace over 3.5 miles as a total run time of 0:01...all the other distances, as Keri stated, appear to be accurate depressing. Smile

Dear neighborhood pervert,

I now prefer to wear white speedo's because unlike red (please refer to the previous pics posted by Tiff), white does not draw attention to my pastie white torso. Also just to clarify I shave my, head, chest, legs, butt, and groin area (but not my arms). What you perceived to be brunette hair, was actually a triangle patch of black material to conceal my 'fun parts' from local perverts like yourself.

But next time feel free to take a picture to remember "our" moment!

Sincerely,
White Speedo Guy

This is much easier than using BT logs and trying to produce estimate times from pace and distance.  Very cool- thanks!

Huh, I had no idea the world headquarters were in Tampa.

Thats like, a block from our office downtown.

And Ken, you're right.  You sign up for a specific task and work specific hours.  My understanding is that the aid stations on the bike course are the longest/hardest.

I've volunteered for a water run station in IMWI, and also as a wet suit stripper at IM CdA.  Both were lots of fun.  I enjoyed the water station more as I got to see everyone I knew racing go past.

That's funny!  Would be a little more funny if james's apartment wasn't 84 degrees right now.  Maybe we're cursed: his apartment has a broken ac (third time in just a little over a month that it's broken) and mine's infested with fruit flies.
