Hey there nibbs! Went for a little ride today with Heather. Her hubby watched all 4 kids while we were gone, and get this--my 11 yr old tween daughter who balked at being the only girl there, and thought she would rather stay home alone all day had THE best time! She was in such a good mood on the way home. Well, for at least 10 minutes, anyway. that got us most of the way home. I'll take what I can get She is soooo moody these days. She must be practicing for 7th grade ina  few months or something.

The ride itself was good. I think I'm gonna be sore, and I shold have been doing this a couple weeks ago, but hey, I am more at peace with my bike--on flats. Too bad the race is on hills. My goal is to finish and still be able to walk the next day. I think that is something I can accomplish, even if I have to stop and rest a couple times. Oh, and in other good news I got to talk to my hubby last night for 15 minutes, and today I talked my parents into coming up and staying with me in the hotel Friday night and coming to watch all or most of the race!!! Yay!!! I don't have to go to my first tri completely alone!!!! I'm sooooo relieved.

My Memorial Day -

Frank recently got a used GoldWing and we were set to join friends for a charity ride. Now, you all know I am really afraid of the motorcycles (don't want to day bike for we all may be thinking of the other kind ) So last Wednesday he took me out for a test ride and I did okay.

Monday morning, bright and early we get to our friends house at 6:10am. They live in a cul-de-sac and are in their driveway waiting on us. Frank pulls up and as he is stopping the bike he is also making the turn in the cul-de-sac. Guess what...yup! He tipped the bike over and I went flying off of the bike. My friend who was watching said one second I was there, then there was a scream, and I was gone.

Luckily since we were in slow motion, and I had just bought a bike jacket with elbow pads, shoulder pads, and a back pad, and I was wearing my helmet, I was okay. I just lay there on the street laughing. Here I am, terrified that we are going to crash at high speeds and I get dumped going at just about zero!

Besides the bruise that I have on my right leg and my knee being a little sore the rest of the day was great. I did ride on the back of that motorcycle for about 6 hours. We were part of a ride that had over 700 bikes that rode to Madison, Georgia for their Memorial Day ceremony. It was really cool seeing all the bikes in front and behind us.

Then we went to Montecello, Georgia, for lunch. Back home and finished the day at ours streets block party (got my swim and a short bike ride in). All it all it was a great day.

Glad you're okay Kendra!  Be kind of hard to get back on the bike after tipping it in the driveway before a day ride.

Wait a second....
Who has the kids????????   Kids in hotel, with your mom & DAD?????

Oh and you accomplished MORE than just flats yesterday, have you so easily forgotten our WIND??
Yes, Amy and I did the unthinkable and road in between storms  - yep.... on a road where you would normally pass a couple dozen - or at least one dozen - cyclist on a weekend/holiday... we were the ONLY ones out.  (hubby expected us to come back cold and wet, so he had the coffee pot all ready to go - but we were dry )

I'm sure you will do fine on Saturday...  You've already done the route minus 1/2 half of a hill (you made it up the South side - which might I add was steeper and longer than the north side of it).

Bet you're not feeling sore today

Hi Nibbs - just wanted to let you know I fly tomorrow. I will have no mobile and very little internet access for the next week or so.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I will try and check in before I leave for the airport tomorrow.

We'll be thinking of you and we'll be praying for the best for you and your family Cat...

Yep, kids in the hotel, with my mom and dad. Well, technically, I think the kids will be sleeping in my room, but, yeah. They may or may not come watch the entire race (I'm ok with that either way). At least now I know for sure that someone will be there, to cheer for me, at least for the finish if nothing else.

Yeah, those storm clouds were looking pretty gnarly out by the lake yesterday. It was especially weird to be getting the wind off of them, but still be in the sun, Glad we didn't get caught in the microbursts.

Well, since there were other people involved in the whole ride thing, I kind of felt I needed to "climb back into the saddle" so to speak. I ended up having a really good day, so I'm glad I did.

Did I tell you all that I'm taking a class on how to drive/ride a motorcycle at the end of June?

Ooh...the 'fun' years...we 'lost' our daughter there for a little while at the 12/13 year old stage...didn't want to talk to us, moody, didn't want to be SEEN with us, thought we were embarrassing to be around.  She did a TOTAL 180 this year and loves spending time with the family.  Good luck while she goes through the 'tunnel' (as my friends refer to it)......they come back sometime...some girls spend more/less time in the 'tunnel.'

The ride itself was good. I think I'm gonna be sore, and I shold have been doing this a couple weeks ago, but hey, I am more at peace with my bike--on flats. Too bad the race is on hills. Yay Amy!  Great to have your parents at your FIRST race!  Good luck this weekend...

OMG... I can't believe I just fought with my lock on the locker for what seemed an eternity!!!!!!

Went for swim, no problems opening my lock beforehand.... After swim, it wouldn't open.
Thought maybe blood sugar was lower than I thought and I wasn't thinkin' right... called co-workers desk for combo (I bought a twin pack and gave her the extra - so we have the same combination)... she was gone...  so I went back and fought lock some more... different co-worker walks thru and I grab her to call co-worker #1 on cell and get combination, she calls, same combination as I remember... well after digging thru her desk looking for the combo on the little tag (b/c my tag with the combo is in the locker, of course) I'm beginning to concede that I will just have to cut it off (UGH!!!!)... one last try but change the numbers up a little, IT WORKED!!!!
How weird is it that my co-worker and I remembered the same WRONG combo!!!!

Gah, how frustrating!!!

Funny dat, but it's true some number combos and sequences are much easier to remember, so it's not actually that unlikely that two intelligent people would mix numbers around in the same way (usually to a pattern that's a more easily remembered one).
