Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Hotel to T1 travel (reservation required) is in the FAQ at http://www.beach2battleship.com/faq.cfm#travel 1) Will there be transportation for athletes on the morning of the event from downtown to the beach/ transition #1? Yes. Trolleys will take those athletes without a ride to the beach to the first transition area. The Athlete Event Information booklet explains how to make a reservation for one of these buses. These trolleys will leave from the downtown Hilton at 5AM on event morning. You can reserve a spot on one of these buses now by emailing us at [email protected] . I hope this helps! Check the site. Ahh, that's for the trolly to get to T1 before the race, correct? From the hotels and such? The trolly from T1 to the swim start doesn't require a reservation still. Had me a bit confuzzled there That's right -- they say that the trolley from T1 to swim start needs no reservation. If you don't have a ride from the hotel area to T1, then you make a reservation on the morning trolley. Hey guys, I'm on the B2B website & I'm not finding trolley info. Am I missing something? By the way, are we talking shuttle service from hotel to T1? Woop. Found the link of the B2B email. |

I would suggest not waiting until the one they're supposed to get to you gets there as I got mine the day I returned from the race last year. Thank you! :-) Edited by kalalau 2010-10-27 1:06 PM |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Got any room under the desk! I am ready to get this going. It can't get here fast enough for me. It is kind of bitter sweet in that this is my first IM and I want to get it done and know I did it. I learned a ton from the first HIM I did to the second. I see this as the same thing. I put together an execution plan over the weekend. (had a lot of nervous energy). I just kept googling different things and kept adding them to my plan if I thought they made sense. Bottom line is I think I am ready but want to be tested to see. I took the worse case scenario on my times and I see myself finishing at or before 13.30 hours. If I beat this or I don't I am not concerned as much as I am just wanting to finish and get the first IM behind me and do another one next year. |

Extreme Veteran 981 Maryland | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread If there's one thing I've learned over the past 4 IMs is that keeping it simple is best. Don't add too much to your plan. The day is easy to mess up as it is. I do realize how hard that is to do though. You are always thinking 'what if'. I'm going to store all my 'what if' things in the special needs bags because I never even open those bags (one bag opened in 4 IMs). You WILL do this, that is not in question. I'm going to simplify my plan a bit and hope to not screw things up this time. Hope it works. |

Eh, post-race, I'm sticking to the time-test alcohol & junk food. Seriously, on my list of things to do is map out the late-night fast food joints around my hotel. I'm so excited that this is almost all over. But even more seriously, I drink regularly so I see no reason to lay off the 2/3 glasses of wine I usually have before bedtime. (It was the same advice I got when studying for the bar.) |

Pro 4360 Baton Rouge area | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread In some ways I wish the race was here. Every little ache/pain I keep worrying that I have injured myself. Swam today too hard and my shoulder is a little sore (keep telling myself I am fine!). Post race needs to be pizza, burgers, and/or fried chicken with beer. |

Regular 93 Vicksburg | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Glad I'm not the only one thats ready for this thing to be over. Can't wait. Gary how did you do at the Big Cajun? I was 2nd overall, of course that needs an asterisk* since they turned around half of the field early. I made the correct turn around but was shocked when I saw 40 year olds that started 3 min behind me already running (they turned around early). It was crazy and confusing. |

Congrats on the 2nd overall. I took 3rd in the Aqua bike division and first in my AG for Aquabike (butttt there was only one person in my AG;>. Swam okay, took it too easy and got a bit lost (with everyone else) in the fog. Couldn't see buoys, lifeguards, shore, nothing. Got out of the water feeling like that was a good warmup and I was now ready to race. On the bike I got stuck at the RR crossing waiting for the train to pass. Just crazy stuff but had fun! |

Champion 7595 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread My training the past few weeks has been completely bollocksed up. I ended up switching from a three-week to a two-week taper because of it. Actually, because of further issues, it'll be just slightly under two weeks. (Fortunately, I recover pretty quickly, so I'm not worried.) Last long ride tomorrow. I am so ready for the taper to begin! |

14 | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread ok guys - we are all amped up and itching for our taper to be over. i am making last minute plans to avoid any uh oh's - what were you thinking moments....tuning up the bike, rechecking supplies, etc. race day morning - how many calories is your breakfast and what are you guys eating for RD breakfast? i am 6'4" 200#, and i was told that i should hit 1000 - 1500 calories. i was thinking a bagel with nutella or jelly, 2 bananas, maybe 2 servings of plain oatmeal. if i did that, then i would be 250 for the bagel, another 200 for the nutella or jelly, 260 or so for the bananas, and about 300 for the oatmeal. i was thinking about having another banana and gel pack at T1. 2 times a week i swim at 6 am, i wake up at 5:30, eat a bagel and banana and head out the door tot eh pool. i drink a lot of water on the 7 minutes ride. since i have been doing that, i have not had any problems with leg or stomach cramping. after swimming i eat approx 2000 calories. thanks in advance and good luck tapering!!! See ya friday morning for the swim. |

Small numbers compared to above but I did taper for my Oly aquabike and managed a few long rides. Pulled a shoulder muscle from swimming on Thursday and haven't swam since. Will try tomorrow as it is almost 100%. Nice job to the folks above, you put in some great mileage! Edited by GaryRM 2010-11-01 10:36 AM |

See ya friday morning for the swim. Wow My race day breakfast is probably going to be exactly what it's been for a few years now: 4 SouthWestern rolls http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=182334 with 4 cheese sticks. I won't sleep much but I rarely do so I'll be up around 3:00ish. Plenty of time. I'll probably have a 16 Oz bottle of water with one scoop of HEED right before the gun. I've got the "GET THE BIKE BOTTLES OUT OF THE FRIDGE" stickey note all ready to go onto my steering wheel so I don't forget that on race day |
