ceilidh - 2010-05-07 8:28 AM A facility dumped out hazardous waste on purpose.
They were caught.
I am making them clean it up.
It costs a lot.
They are mad at me because they got caught and it costs a lot.
So, idiots that they are, got a really good, high dollar lawyer.
They called and bitched at me first thing this mornign because I am making them clean it up and they got caught and it costs a lot.
So, I called their lawyer to discuss their recalcitrance and was on hold for 20 minutes and talked for another 15 minutes and  asked the lawyer to write me a letter explaining their situation (i.e., they got caught, it costs a lot and I am making them clean up). That will be at least 5 billable hours right there. At a rate of about $600 or more bucks an hour.
Do NOT ME OFF.... It will cost you MORE!!!!

1) You did the right thing
2) They did not
3) I have no sympathy for them
4) YOU GO GIRL!!!

It will be great, when I get said letter I will have to, of course, call and discuss it with the lawyer again. It will be a lOOOOOOONNNNNGGG conversation. I get paid the same no matter what, they can either "man up and clean up" or continue to rack up lawyer bills. Funny thing is that they are not contesting that they dumped the stuff or that it is hazardous or anything. They are just whining that they shouldn't have to pay for the clean up, that is what they pay taxes for!

Um... go ask 10 people on the street if they pay taxes so some company can blatantly disregard protocol and dump their toxins where ever they damn well please?

Ahh, just to make my day better, I received a call from another consultant who submitted a report earlier this week with over 1200 pages of laboratory data as an appendix to a 1 inch thick document. I have to review all of it. He wants to know what is taking me so long.

Oh, and it took them and extra month (that I nicely granted an extension for) to get it to me.

My Division Director called me for other reasons (never a good call to get) and mentioned that I should expedite the review process for them. But, first can you do the two additional projects that I initially called you for.... today!

I guess I'd better get to work.

See you all later.

ironannekidd - 2010-05-07 6:26 AM I have a question for THE VILLAGE

My sister gave me an AeroGarden and I'm growing basil, chives, and thyme. I don't know what to do with the herbs once I'm done growing them.

Any thoughts?

Most people cook with them.

I swam with a coached group yesterday for the first time.  Wow!  I usually swim about 20-30 minutes but this was about an hour altogether with the rests.  Drills and such are sure different than just swimming my laps!  I am the slowest in the group but they are all very encouraging.  I have already picked up a couple of tips on my form from the coach.  Smile

But last night my ankles and feet and lower legs were SORE!  They ached like crazy... way worse than after a run.  This morning I am fine, but I didn't realize how much my legs would feel it.  My neck/shoulders were a little sore, but seem fine today.  I plan to meet with them each week!   If I can't make it at that time, they have a copy of that week's workout at the pool.
