At the Columbus marathon (a one-mile loop, 26 times. No joke!) after eating McDonald's for breakfast I PR'd with a 3:38:XX. And I had ribs the night before the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon and PRd with a 2:34:XX. I'm sensing a trend. Before IMAZ I'm going to eat Bengali food. Gosht vindalloo, anyone?mr2tony - 2012-09-10 4:30 PM bradleyd3 - 2012-09-10 4:27 PM I've tempted fate a few times and have won in pretty much every instance. I've eaten Chinese, Mexican, Indian, BBQ and Thai the night before various races. The morning OF a race I have had to settle for a Sausage Egg McMuffin with Cheese before -- Columbus, Ohio, is an armpit and has no bagel shops that are open on a Sunday at 6am. The only time I had issues was at mile 18 of the ironman and at the Redman HIM. Redman's discomfort was from too many endurolytes and I was backed up for a few days. Ow. Asalzwed - 2012-09-10 4:19 PM Yes....home grown too (except the onions). And TJ....I said I needed shaming.....bring it sister! (BTW....loved your post today....mainly the picture but the message was on point....but the pic was great. Did I mention the pic?) bradleyd3 - 2012-09-10 4:17 PM Asalzwed - 2012-09-10 4:16 PM You're right.....IT'S ON! bradleyd3 - 2012-09-10 4:11 PM Teejaay - 2012-09-10 4:03 PM I have a Veterans Memorial Board meeting on Wednesday (I'm vice-chair) so I'm kind of a big deal. I'm making the wifey and I omelets tonight with sauteed tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and baby spinich....and sauteed in garlic infused olive oil. And a side cucumber and watermelon salad. I may eat some hot pickled cucumbers and onions too....but I have a 3 miler (which you can read about tomorrow....maybe) so I may lay off the spicey food. byoung73 - 2012-09-10 1:50 PM I want to add something, but just don't have anything interesting to say. I don't either. Just killing time. So ... what is everyone doing this Thursday? Big plans? I've got nothing. 3 miles with spicy food? I see that more as a challenge! That's the spirit! Did you pickle the cucumbers yourself? That whole post just makes me hungry. It also makes me want to run irresponsibly. Actually, I totally had some McDonald's oatmeal, a mcmuffin and hash browns before my last marathon. 3:22:xx...perhaps we have stumbled onto something. |

Have you been nominated for homecoming king? Nah.. I just posted on FB. I pretty much HATED college. Mostly because I did the whole fraternaty thing. MISTAKE. I feel like now that 20+ years have gone by, I might go back and check out the old digs and show my wife the classrooms and the frat house (and mostly the local college bars!) And of course the campus church. Sort of a big deal in the Lutheran World. It's a doozie of a church. Look up Valparaiso if interested. |

There's a college homecoming? I went to the games but never knew there was an actual event. Maybe it's too big? We have a whole weekend. They open the classrooms for "tours" and such. I remember all the "grownups" on campus that weekend and all the fraternity "alumni" at the parties that weekend... I may stay away from that though. Not interested in a frat party and NOT going to bring the wife into something like that. |

I learned something today. Everyone knows about Marshall, but I had no idea about Wichita St. College football, no matter the scale, is a great atmosphere. I go to Coast Guard games because they're local and I know some of the cadets. They're competitive most weeks, albeit against the likes of WPI, central CT and the like. But it's fun. |
