Extreme Veteran 2098 Alberta | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Well an average weekend on the diet front as we were super busy with kids hockey...one in tournament, one with league play...8 games in 6 days...will be more manageable this week. Hit #26 on the monthly workout challenge!! Six days to spare!! Starting to lengthen runs this week(still slow but... :-) ) Have a great week everyone! Edited by thor67 2016-01-25 8:31 AM |

Member 3146 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open #39--walk this morning after I tweeked my knee in the driveway on a small patch of ice at the beginning of my run. I wasn't paying attention and one leg went out from under me, but I did manage to catch myself without falling. Left knee just didn't seem to want to run, but walking was okay. Hopefully it will feel better tomorrow. #40--1500m swim this morning in the long set pool. Somehow, workouts always feel longer when the pool is 50m instead of 25yds, even when I do the same distances. I'm traveling this week for work and really don't know what sort of facilities the conference center will have, so my only goal this week is to do something active every day, even if that is walking laps up and down the hotel hallways. Last year this conference was at a USPS center in OK and there was an awesome gym setup with a running track and everything. This year, it is in Leesburg VA at another government facility, but there is no information online about the gym facilities, other than the fact that there is a gym of some sort. Normally I'd plan to run outside, but given the 26" of snow on the ground there, I'm not thinking that will be possible. |

Extreme Veteran 1648 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open I don't usually call alpine ski days workouts- but yesterday we did a 30 minute hike that started at 12,080 ft. Based on how my legs feel this morning I'm calling it a workout ;-) Anyone have favorite calf stretches they want to share? |

I completely fell off the wagon last week, and I'm out of the running for 24 workouts this month, so I'm going for an easy win this week to regain momentum:

Deep in the Heart of Texas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open #31 with 3600 yd swim today. In the middle of the workout, we had a timed 1000 yd which I did in 14:05. More importantly, for me, was that I managed to hold 1:24/100 throughout. |

Doug - I love signing on in the middle of the day and seeing a BDASer at the top of the forum page. Killer swim man - you would crush me! |

I've said this before and I will say it again - but you are a machine! I think we should start calling you - The Terminator! Seriously - working out every day is a great goal but are you worried about injury? Be sure to make some room for some rest days. Edited by Qua17 2016-01-25 1:53 PM |

That is the nickname my students gave me about 4 years ago (they think I don't know). I love it in both contexts!!! You are right about rest days! I forgot to say I take Sundays as my rest day (and will do so this week too!). |

Based on how my legs feel this morning I'm calling it a workout ;-) Anyone have favorite calf stretches they want to share? I do a combination of stretching my calves against a step, the edge of our treadmill, the curb, whatever, plus some foam rolling. It's also the only part of my body that I would ice down, especially if the soreness is down towards the Achillies tendon. For some reason the calf soreness tends to linger too. :-/ |

Expert 4924 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Off to a good start this week with a 45 minute trainer ride yesterday and an hour this morning; will get in a short treadmill run at lunch. Pool is open but we're going to wait until tomorrow to venture that far. I shoveled for like 3-4 hours total over the weekend - you bet your a$$ I put it in my training log. |

193 , California | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open 23/24 with a morning swim and evening run today. Realized I never posted my goals for this week. Sorry can't quote another post using the phone app. 1) 6 workouts 2) 2 swims 3) 2 week morning workouts 4) Sunday is first race of the year. Goal is a personal best 10km of better than 1:03. Really would love to break 1 hour. Neither is likely but I'm putting it here to stretch myself. Btw anyone starting to think of February challenge? Matt |

Regular 866 Central Coast, CA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Had a great 12.5 mile run on Saturday, feeling pretty good for my upcoming HM (3 weeks away). Then I had a bad 4.25 mile run today... bleh. I slogged through it and finished, reminding myself "some runs are bad, the next one won't be!". Still not cleared for swimming yet however my shoulder is making progress. |

Member 3146 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open I spent most of today traveling, but did managed to get in a trainer ride this morning (#41), a walk around the airport waiting for my delayed flight to take off (#42), and a treadmill run this evening at the conference center fitness center (#43). I don't think tomorrow will be as productive, but I guess we will see how the day shakes out. Meetings run 8:30-5:30, but there is always early am (I am a morning person, after all) or afterwards, depending on how starving I am at the end of meetings. I like to eat early. I feel like I'm living in a college dorm. This whole place is entirely self contained, including all the meeting rooms, the fitness center, laundry, dry cleaning, dining facilities, bar, etc. My room is miniscule, but I think I could totally get into living like this (especially the part about other people doing the cooking and dishes!). If only there was room for my bike and trainer, it would be perfect! Can't believe I wanted out of the dorms as fast as humanly possible when I was in college!! I guess I didn't know how good I had it. |
