I found something interesting today.  It is WAYY harder to do a mindless steady spin than it is to do an high-octane interval training session.

Today was my weekly small-ring, Z1 spin for an hour.  By the end of 30 minutes, I was SOOOOO bored.

Which workout is the hardest for you to do each week (and not just physically demanding)?

My boring workout is the continuous freestyle swim.  I want to stop and through in a drill somewhere.. or speed up or jump out and get in the sauna..

Good Morning everybody...   Hope all is well..

I find boring a trainer ride....  It is a necessary evil, but I don't like it..    oh well..

lets see...  what to report...  Oh yea.. I am doing another 50K this weekend.   I have been massaging my IT band and using my foam roller to get it better.  Hopefully I will do better this time, and BOB I promise I will eat a lot more during the race..

The ride is absolutely beautiful, except for the 22% grade hill that goes on for about 2 miles by the prison, you are going to love it!! You can go change your shorts now, I was just kidding about the hill!!

Mentor or torturer???

I also find that the long swim can get rather boring, especially this time of year when you don't see any hotties laying out by the pool when you breath..did I say that out loud?

I also find that the trainer can get boring as well, hence the play station or something else entertaining. You just have to be careful when on the playstation as you will begin to focus more on  the game and less on the bike time.  I have to constantly remind myself to pump up the volume or I fall off a few mphs.

Long runs can also get boring, unless you run neked as a jaybird.

Trainer rides are the ultimate bore...I like to watch That 70's Show & Two and a Half Men and then "sprint" during the commercials.

Swimming laps can get old too.  I will keep the person to the side of me in check and have a little race with them...well, in my head anyway.  Keeps me entertained.

Do you sit up when playing, or use the controller while aero??  I'm not being sarcastic, I sometimes sit up and spin during recovery periods and have been toying with the idea of getting some light dumbells and work the shoulders and arms...kinda of multi-tasking, if you will.  How many of you are now scratching your head wondering what the hell I'm talking about, while the rest are wondering how long before I hurt myself??  Usually when I'm on the trainer, I'm under very tight time constraints.  Thoughts?

You are one sick F.  Have fun and best of luck.  Oh and remember the sage advice from Anchorman "I have heard Bears can smell menstration"...so don't run near women.

Play while in aero only.  Your hands are together anyway so it makes sense.

Laid.

edit:  Sorry I was day-dreaming.  I gave wifey a Get-out-of-Jail- Free card......weekend at the spa....Alone.  Not overly romantic, but it's what she needs now.  Besides, imagine the honey points I am accumulating.

Happy Saturday!

Heading out to spin the legs a bit.  Then I must work the rest of the day.  Not exactly the way I wanted to spend it but I must support my habit.

What's everyone doing today?

Good Saturday to all. Did a nice 10K this morning. Pretty rolling with a notably long hill on return (it was nice on the way out). I was talking to a guy before and he said this course is not a PR course due to the hills (gulp). Well, given that it would be hard for me to set a PR, I ignored him.

I SMASHED my old PR. My last 10K race time was a sluggish :53 (and that was my PR). This race I banged out under :46, a very nice improvement. I kept looking at my pace ont he watch telling myself to slow down or the return would kill me. It didn't. Only the big hill section (that was about 3/4 mile long) had a slower pace and that was around 8min/mile.

YEAH ME! Now lets all give Jonny some love!

I decided to get in a spin while the baby sleeps this PM.  That was until my wife got back from the store and dropped a 6 pack of glass coronas in the garage.  A moment of silence please... I had to go clean it up reight after the 3rd set of 120+ cadence spins.  Fun to interupt that.  Oh well, I guess I will just spin out while watching the Ironman Kona instead of restating Carmichael Time Trials.  Happy Weekend.

Ok, I officially have a trainer to get me in Kick asp shape for Fl 70.3.  Based  on Trixie's recommendation and conversations, I will be working with Dan Arnett this season.  I also agree with Trixie that his wife Nancy is awesome as well.  Be ready to see my back at FL70.3 Wink
