Sounds like they will barely have water for IMAZ. Not entirely sure what they will do. I hope I don't end up in another point-to-point-to-point race cause that will suck. Oh no, what happened? That's a bummer. That is a fun swim course, even if the water was a little germ infested. The dam busted. Did you know it was inflatable? Weirdness. So they have to repair and refill it. But, it will be all fresh water now. Should be fresh germs this time. |

I had no idea it was inflatable. That is way weird. |

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! LOL - Hilarious! great advice Newtons1st - 2010-07-19 3:47 PM Just run at night, I do. Start drinking heavy now. Same advice I gave to the wife when in vegas when we got marrried. bzgl40 - 2010-07-20 1:16 PM What would the group do? I normally would have run early this morning. However, some silly little database down thing preventing me from heading out. The temps are near 100 now and probably will be by lunch (and they will be over 100 by after work). My house is at 80, so it is not "cool" but it is not in the sun and I do have a fan. Would you do your run indoors and be bored to tears or run outside with lots of water and just take an easy pace? I know Nicole will tell me to skip it so I don't spank her arse too bad in our competition so that is not a valid response. Note, there is NO shade on my route at all (and no way to find any). |

I think an edurance du is still a hard event but I would have never signed up if it wasn't an OWS. It's the swim experience I was looking to gain. Oh well, it is what it is. You live in the desert you got to expect water problems I guess. I just want to know what they will do about the run. I am hoping it is bike/run only, which is what I expect out of an endurance du. If not I need to know ASAP so I can add on the miles. |

About the format... I googled it to read a little about the dam etc and found this article... http://ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1317113 ... It says they will do a run/bike/run format with a shorter run first. |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Man, the group is soooo quiet today. Wild night of drinking last night? Kelli has an excuse. Poor girl. Everyone send her healing vibes. Anyone racing this weekend? My cousin and her husband are for sure coming this December. It'll be fun to ride with a top notch athlete and get some super expert swim coaching in. I've never meet her son either so that's cool. Although it is weird to feel like I have to train to have family visit. |

Totally counting on Tina to win that. Although in my case it will probably really mess up training as I suspect there will be way more traveling in my life. But I wouldn't be working... |

Pro 4482 NJ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Question on training nutrition for the group. I usually just train with water and gu (1per hour out.) Shot blocks etc don't work for me as I have permanent retainers on the back of the pearly whites and gummy stuff is a no no. I added Enduralytes this past weekend because of the heat and thought they helped. I'm 14 weeks from my marathon. Soon my long runs are going to exceed anything I've done previously (HM) and I've been thinking that carrying an energy drink might be in order. What do you do for workouts longer than a couple hours? |

Soon my long runs are going to exceed anything I've done previously (HM) and I've been thinking that carrying an energy drink might be in order. What do you do for workouts longer than a couple hours? In my marathon training I have only ever used gels of some sort and water. I cannot process any kind of solid food when running. And I can tell you by the end of marathon training I never ever wanted to see another gel. My run this weekend enforced that whole no solid food thing. I think my next long run though I might try Heed instead of water (can't really do both with my setup). I know I can easily stomach Heed. Edited by bzgl40 2010-07-26 10:14 AM |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! What's cool is that they worked with another company up there that hosts OWS's and they will pay the entry for an OWS in one of two events. One is before the HIM (um, du), and the other is after. So these guys are trying to make up for something that is so not in their control. They are also allowing you to use 50% of the payment towards next years race instead. I'll do this years, and in reality it will be harder then a HIM for me with that whole run thing first and the rest remaining the same. I am not sure I can get to the OWS though as that is 3 hours away from me. I'm going to try though. evondo - 2010-07-26 7:56 AM You are correct, I'm a triathlete not a duathlete I especially feel for anyone who was trying to do their first HIM I KENOTT swim - 2010-07-23 3:33 PM Sorry about the damn dam Kim!
