roadrhino - 2010-07-27 6:58 PM Well good luck to all the marathon/half marathon lottery folks. I'm in with Nik and another friend and hope our group is lucky enough to have the opportunity. Kelli...sure hope it works out for you, too!

I'm taking a little time off from training for a couple days at least. I spent the morning at the ER with chest pains that I've been having for about a week now. Fortunately, the diagnosis is anxiety...which I am no stranger to...so I consider this a good news result out of the ordeal, and I gladly accept it!

You ^^^^ ok today?

I decided to bail on the Houston Half Marathon.  I believe I will be signing up for the Surfside Half instead.  13.1 is 13.1 in my book - the spectators / bands didn't help me much last time.  I am pulling for everyone trying to get in and even more for anyone trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

To Austin and back in one day.  Still enough daylight to go ride the bike!

Change my race?  http://www.mountlemmonmarathon.com/  I hear that Redrock is going to offer 100% refund or allow you to transfer the race to 2011.  So, now I am toying with the Mt. Lemmon marathon.  I think my run volume is high enough to jump into a marathon trainingn plan.  I am not 100% sure I want to run a marathon though but the Mt Lemmon one is not just any marathon.  There are also some HIM's in Vegas but I am toying with calling it quits on the season, concentrate on my runs (but still bike and swim) and not do IMAZ next year but in 2012 instead.  I'm really just thinking out loud but I'd be interested in opinions as well.  I've been a little all over the place regarding this.

Oh wow, how did I miss this?

Sorry to hear about the ER visit.  I've had anxiety enduced (induced?) panic attacks a few times before and they are no fun.  I hope that you start feeling better soon.

Run uphill for 26.2 miles?

Yah, that sounds like a grand old time.

I don't know Kim.  I like the idea of a marathon, but this one sounds like a doosie.

Thanks, Ken, Nicole...

Feeling great these last two days. Anxiety is a bi^ch, though...and it's amazing how much peace of mind can go into curing it.

Glad to be able to get right back into training and focus on what will probably be the last full tri of the season. Of course there is the possibility of a relay sometime with Keri, but there's no way we can enter a relay if we don't have an awesome team name. Wink

You would be amazing to do the uphill marathon...if it's something you think you are prepared for, I say go for it!

I understand your mentality, too about adjusting your schedule this year and next. I wanted to do Cozumel in 2011, but I think physically and mentally I need about 2-3 more HIMs (next season) to really prepare for the longer distance. And if you decide IM 2012, you have the option of Texas with Ken, Nik and myself...Smile

Anyone racing this weekend?  Or anything fun going on?  I'm back to the Mt Lemmon ride again since I get to give the pager up Friday morning (and I'm counting the hours).  This week's
7/31/10 - San Pedro Vista, Mile 17.4. Elevation = 7200 ft
I think we start at like 3000, or somewhere near that.  Not a bad days climbing I'd say.

Speaking of Mt Lemmon, I think I will do the marathon.  Once I get an idea in my head it is kind of hard to stop it so um, off I go on some marathon training.  Bring it on!!!

I was looking at 13.1 options and I found one that had an elevation change of 10' (up on to the seawall and then back off the seawall) in Galveston.  I like flat but dang!  26.2 all uphill sounds nuts to me - good luck!  The bike ride climb sounds challenging and not nearly as much fun as the WEEEEE!!!!! on the way down.  I bet the view is worth the work.  We don't get much to look at here.

Just a typical 50-60 mile bike ride and short transition run on Sat and off on Sunday for me.  Back to racing Aug 8.

Our community is hosting a Babe Ruth baseball tournament starting tomorrow and I will be broadcasting some games (bcbrbaseball.blogspot.com -webcast link if anyone needs some cheap Friday entertainment...haha) starting at 1:30 tomorrow. Will be fun especially since Nik will be on the field umpiring. First time I will have called a game with her umping. There's also a 5k and 10k in conjunction with the festivities, so we might tackle the 5k Saturday morning. Hoping to fit in some S and B in all the madness of the next 5 days...gotta be ready for the next tri on the 8th. Kim, glad you decided on the Mary...good luck in your training. Can't wait to see alll the progress and how you fare on race day.

Time for the Friday happy dance!

I barely recognize you Justin.  I bet those ankles were still just as skinny as ever!  haha  You've put in a lot of hard to be the fast guy you are today.

Todd - Eric and I are in for the floating trip.  I will also be bringing my 15 year old sister and one of her friends.

As for the weekend - Eric is off on a bachelor's party in Mexico and will hopefully come back alive on Monday.  I have a baby shower to attend and hopefully be able to hang out with some friends.

Happy Friday!!  I've been ridiculously busy at work the past couple weeks, and finally catching up on stalkign everyone's TL's & the message board.

And bc it's that time again, (minus a 50 mile ride tomorrow)....
July's totals:
Bike:17h 06m 53s  - 255.97 Mi
Run:11h 30m 25s  - 69.46 Mi
Swim:3h 16m 58s  - 8441.9 Yd

June's totals:
Bike:21h 54m 21s  - 348.54 Mi
Run:12h 31m 55s  - 81.28 Mi
Swim:6h 55m  - 19177.6 Yd

Being sick for a week, two races & little interest in getting in the pool, left this month's training more haphazard than I care for.  Would have liked to have more long rides in there.  BUT, had a great (late) start to my season with a 1st & 2nd place AG finish.

Most important, I learned a lot this month....
- Pretty sure oly is my favorite race distance
- Not sure I'm so keen on the pain induced by sprint distance races
- Ocean swims are not for me
- I've been thinking about this one quite a lot over the past month and a half, and there will be no IM for me next year.  It's still a possibility for me one day.  But for now I'm not ready to commit that kind of time to training.

I am 'planning' on making the float trip... I have a couple conflicts but I made reservations at the motel, so that's a start.

I got the new position.  Beat out 4 other applicants, and I will now be the new Westside Divisional Gang Unit Supervisor starting on Monday.  10a-6p.... weekends off, plain clothes, plenty of paid overtime, and a great boss.  Doing my happy dance.

Thanks for the comliments on the weightloss... it's even hard for me to imagine I looked like that before.  All I can say is NEVER AGAIN!!!   Ha!

Y'all have a great weekend!

Thinking of getting in a run and an OWS Saturday morning (swim @ 9am-ish), and a 40-50 mile ride Sunday morning...
