pitt83 - 2008-07-29 9:27 AM the Gerolsteiner rider hitting the road furniture

Maybe it's the closet NASCAR fan in me talking, but seeing that bike basically explode was AWESOME (once I realized the guy lived through it).

Cavendish, Vandevelde (for my American self), and CSC vs Evans made it one friggin exciting tour.

What was amazing is that the rider was essentaily standing there with no bike! The three pieces are all over the road, the sign is trashed and he's just standing in the middle of the road. I bet Specicalized wants this one to go away

I was amazed that he was just standing there in the middle of the road too.   If I'd hit that sign and my bike had shattered into three pieces I'd be curled up in a ball in hysterics!  he was jst standing there waiting for a new bike!

same as Augustyn (hope I've spelt his name correctly) his bike flew down that valley. miraculously he survives and is on the side of the road waiting for a bike.  gets on a replacement after 5mins and still manages to finish that stage in 35th!  awesome viewing!

With no Astana, its like keeping Bill Walsh out of the Superbowl. Levi or Contador SHOULD have been on podium on Paris.  Perhaps I'm parochial, but as an American, with no remaining competitive Americans left in the race, I could care less (shrug). And finishing anything less than 3rd - a 'good placing' on GC is meaningless. No one remembers who placed 5th, or 12th, etc.

So, you missed the debut of two great American Teams, Columbia and Garmin-Chipolte, who both performed very well in the Tour, and we got to see that wennie Ricardo Ricco, hauled off by the French police. You missed some great times!!

Glad to see you still cheer for a guy who has produced the most doping positives out of any DS in history ......

Hamilton, Heras, Landis, Basso, Beltran and most recently Gusev (and I'm even forgetting a few).

C'mon dude, not watching the Tour because Bruyneel didn't have a team in it is just silly.  The sport was around and exciting before him and it will be after he's done.  And I don't care what you say about Riis (and the fact that in '95 - '97 EVERYONE in the sport was using EPO becuase it was not detectable should not be ignored - he's just admitted it while others will never fess up), he has consistently put together the absolute best team in the sport for years on end.  Bruyneel knows how to put together a grand tour and small stage race team, but the rest of the year he doesn't do squat.  In cycling if a team doesn't win some of the classics, they aren't even worth mentioning.  Postal/Discovery really only ever had Hincapie as a Classics guy, and he doesn't even ride for Bruyneel anymore.
