'Course, my alma mater is the Gustavus Adolphus College Golden Gusties. What the hell's a Gustie, you ask? Well, I guess I'll reply with the rhetorical what the hell's a Hoosier? Our mascot was a lion if that makes ANY sense...

I was in school at IU for a semester. For Halloween, I went dressed up as a Hoosier. Essentially, I had a hat made up with big question mark on it. When people would ask what I was, I'd tell them I was a Hoosier.

Some people laughed uproariously while others looked at me strangely.

We played the Hoopsten (sp?) Cornjerkers in the boys basketball IHSA playoffs in 1986. (!!!) We (as cheerleaders) had to insert the term "Cornjerkers!" into our cheers. Just like you'd insert "Tigers!" Or "Rams!" I believe we actually shortened it to "Jerkers" because of the flow of the cheer.

Later on in the same tournament, we played the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes... We shortened their name to "Shoes"...

I don't know, but back in the day, I used to be a Whizzer.

In WV there is a city outside Charleston (the capital) called Poca. The high school mascot is yes.... of course... dots.
