Basically the situation was, I transferred money from my ING bank account (online bank account) to my B of A checking acct., since the checking was getting low. Usually ING takes about 2-3 days to transfer the money to another account. Well, this time it took longer than usual....and I wound up overdrafting like $40. BUT- the point was that I called B of A (several days ago) to let them know the situation and the person I talked to assured me I would not get the overdraft charges because the 1 item that was overdrafted was "pending" and not "posted" - and since the funds from ING got there in time before the item became "posted", I wouldn't get charged.

Ah.  The beauty of Check21, where there is no longer such a thing as floating a check.  My ex wrote the software that a lot of banks use to process their hard-copy checks and she said the biggest change people were going to realize too late was that there is no longer a delay in check posting.

As for the bank-to-bank transfer, I know your pain Lisa.  I just dealt with the same situation myself.  I realized I was getting below my comfort level in my primary checking at BofA and had to transfer funds from my EmigrantDirect account.  So, I decided that I'll just open a standard savings acct at BofA and leave the monthly minimum in it (~$300) as over-draft protection.  It'll be easier than remembering to watch the checking closely the last few days before the direct deposit hits.

All this stress has just caused me to eat 2 peanut butter/chocolate balls. I am such a stress eater, it's not even funny. And I was doing so good on my diet.

Send those Peanut Butter and Chocolate balls to Comet The Dog.  He and I are in a one on one weight loss challenge.

Thank you.

Bank of America has sent me emails claiming my online account has been locked because of unauthorized login attempts. I don't have bank of america...
is this someone trying to find out my identity and steal it?

I hate my corporate bank (Chevy Chase Bank). Going abroad last year I called them to warn them I was going to be in Europe for a while and they shouldn't suspect a stolen card if foreign transactions pop up. Yet they still decided to freeze my card while I was over there which led to a very interesting couple of days living off of 10 euros. I ate a lot of dry cereal.
My local bank however, which has three branches, upon me saying my name, asked if I was excited to go abroad (I guess my mom had mentioned it) and wished me a wonderful trip. Never had a problem.

Yeah- that is definitely a scam- don't open those emails...I got an email like that from ebay a few years ago asking me to verify some info- and since I was selling my tri bike on there at the time, I thought it was legit. Well, I clicked on the email- didn't fill ANYthing out, but just from clicking on it, some hacker stole my ebay password and ended up getting access to my paypal account. From there, they got my account number and took out $1200 bucks from my bank account.

Oh yeah, and fedex lost my tri bike that I shipped to the person that won the bid. AND I only had $800 worth of insurance on it, and the bike was worth about $1500. LOL. How's that for a string of bad luck!?

I'm normally one to hate banks in general however we have been using BoA for the last 3 years at my business. We have been charged $0 fees of any kind in those 3 years. Gotta admit that's pretty good.

Sorry, banks suck and all, but still.

You wrote a check BEFORE money was in your account. It is your fault. Yes you called etc, but don't write a check BEFORE money is in the account. It is that simple.

Now, my bank has taken off fees for similar reasons, and from a customer relations stand point, 35 dollars is not worth losing customers, that manager should be fired if you don't have a history of it on your account.

BofA has like 303984 bajillion customers, maybe they just don't care anymore.
