I was got extremely emotional the first time I ran by the finish line, only to turn around. I think I wasn't hydrated enough for tears to flow, but I was crying on the inside. It was magical! I didn't get emotional when I actually ran down the finish chute - I felt like I was in a time warp.

Right. I just about started crying when I had to go back out for the last 13. 1 miles. Can't say they were tears of joy though.

I am very disappointed to hear the run course is a turn around close to the finish line. I just did the Spirit of Racine half-Iron this summer and the turn around was about 100 ft from the finish. It was terrible to see people finishing and knowing that I still had another 7 miles to go.

It's all in the way you look at it.

For me, I was even more excited to finish. Running by the finish chute was amazing and it gave me something extra to look forward to. My run splits got significantly shorter after I experienced that!

For IMKY '09......PR baby!

Seeing the BT IMKY 08 "repeat offenders" and not worrying about getting my a$$ chewed off by a man-eating catfish

Amen to that!

HA! I guess you didn't read the race reports... eh?

Oh yeah, at mile 13 ish, you see the finish line. You are JUST THAT CLOSE... and get to make a right turn and go back out for another 13 miles.

Other than the moment that I panicked when I jumped into the water, that turnaround point had to be the worst part of the race.  I picked up the pace for those few miles just to get away from the sights and sounds and torture of seeing that finish line.

What am I looking forward to? Right now, I'm just excited about my training and building more and more base. As for the actual race, I just look forward to finishing and hopefully fulfilling a dream, that will be more than enough for me.

Another BTer has graciously offered his services to throw my cleats on a pair of heels for the bike, so it's still an option.  However, read my RR from this year, I'll be sportin a very "interesting" swimsuit in 09, so maybe you will have something else to focus on and won't miss the heels

I look forward to watching it from a computer in an air-conditioned basement.  HA!

The ENTIRETY of the experience was enjoyable.  Even the pain.  You'll all enjoy it.

I look forward to watching all of you finish.  I'm not doing IMKY this year as I'm doing IMCDA, wanted to try something different.  My wife and I are going to come down and volunteer though, we'll cheer you on.  You'll all have a great time and really enjoy the course.
