I'll add another vote for St. Lucia.  We Stayed at Sandals for our Honeymoon and it was amazing. I really cannot say enough good about it.  The food was great, the weather was great and the resorts were beautiful.

I am trying to figure out a way that we can go back in the near future...

Your choice will be easier once you decide if you want the resort experience, or the actual island experience.  That will allow you to narrow down your options.

probably the resort experience, a spa is a must for the future wifey when we go on vacation

That is helpful as your options in the Carribean are almost endless (except for snow skiing Laughing).

My wife and I honeymooned in Jamaica and we loved the Sandals resort near Negril (many, many moons ago now).  We thought it was great and enjoyed the resort activities and relaxing and went on a few outings and into town, but as honeymooners from MN in December, we were really just tooking for a warm, beautiful spot with a pool and beach (and a nice room Wink).  I will never forget when we left, the captain came on the intercom and said there was a 100F degree diffference between Montego Bay, Jamaica and MN...88 dgrees and -12.

I have since been to many Caribbean destinations and they have all been good in one way or another – hard to miss too badly and there is a lot of good info here.

I will add St. Maarten to the mix. We went there for a week with the kids and family friends right after Christmas 2009 and loved it.  The French side of the island has the best overall food I have had in the Caribbean.  Turns out many young French chefs train there.  The city of Grand Case is basically one street along the ocean (nice beach there too) with shops, restaurants and bars lining it.  Great spot for a foodie.  We went out to a different place every night and they were all very good, although not cheap.  Not a golfers paraides however - one crappy course.  My son and I caught a 60 pound Wahoo though!  Did 2 dives which were ok, but visibility was not great due to strong surf at the time.  Normally about 60 feet I heard.  Lots of big conch.

Whatever you choose- I am sure you will love it.

Also looking at the Secrets Maroma beach resort in Mexico, tons of good reviews online. Rated # 1 on trip advisor out of 183 hotels. With over 4,300 reviews only a few had negative things to say.

I haven't been to a Secrets resort but have done a bunch of research over the last couple of years and they seem to be highly rated everywhere they have a resort. Unfortunately they've been a little out of our price range for the last couple of trips - don't think you can go wrong with it.  Go for it!

Think we are booking at secrets, making our final decision by Sunday. The best part is my wife to be's mother told us yesterday she is going to gift us her time share week because this resort is on her list. Going to save us a ton of $, we'll just have to pay for flights and the all inclusive fees...still pricy but at least we are saving a little $ anyway.

not a bad idea, starting at $1600 per night is a little more than I want to spend though. We kind of did something like this in 2011, we rented a house on the beach in Costa Rica with 2 other couples for a week, we had a blast and its a little easier on the wallet if you have some friends you don't mind being around for a whole week.

For those of you that have been to St. Kitts, any suggestions or recommendations of what to see or do? My fiance and I are going there for our honeymoon at the end of May.

My primary goal is to lay by the pool or on the beach, maybe a round of golf and whatever IM training that I can get done.

Glad someone mentioned the BVI's.  We are headed there next week with 3 other couples we know.  Flying into St. Thomas, then ferrying to Tortola.  Jumping on a chartered catamaran and sailing the BVI's for a 7 days. Prepared meals ,scuba diving, hiking, Soggy Dollar Bar, the Baths, snorkeling, fishing, waterskiing, kayaking, open water swimming, etc.....  sample itinerary  They say it's perfect for those who want adventure (me)and those that want a quiet relaxing week (my wife).  Can't wait.

You picked the right island.  It's so small, that there's really not much to do but sit at the beach. Basseterre is the one "big city" they have, and it's tiny.  You could skip it altogether and not miss anything.  There's no big tourist area for shopping and restaurants.

The best thing we did was pay a cabbie maybe $100 to have him drive us around all day.  He gave us a tour of the whole island, stopping at all the old English forts and a couple of the more secluded beaches.  He took us down to turtle beach, which is the tip of the island closest to Nevis.  A bunch of monkeys live down there and will eat out of your hand.  There's an open air train that you could also use to tour the island.  We chose the cabbie so that weren't tied to the train schedule.

There's some great diving and snorkeling excursions to take, either to reefs or various shipwrecks. You can also take a day trip over to Nevis, but really there's no point.  There's nothing to do there that you can't do on St. Kitts.

But the best thing about the island is that it's such a basic place, very underdeveloped.  Just a quiet, laid back island.  At least it was for our honeymoon 10 years ago.  The wife and I are planning to head back for our anniversary.
