Subject: RE: swim 2.4 miles or not to swim 2.4 milesIf your intention is to loose weight (not that it has to be ) one of the best ways is lots of swimming and many miles on the bike. Both are low impact and difficult to hurt yourself with over training.
Great news on the 1:08 split but I'll take back what I said. If you can get a 2hr swim in right now keep it up. Pass on the strength training. If you start dropping weight you'll find the same muscles that could easily pack the 290#s around can hoist 250 with no issues and at 200# you'll start looking like Arnold : )
You are not the only one here that has been where you are at now. Sounds like you are doing great things.
Couple of thoughts on knee rehab having done that myself. Try water walking along with swimming. I don't know a faster way to get a knee back in working order from surgery. Wish my doc had made a bigger point of it. Our lap pool is only 4 to 5" deep. Walking a few 1000 yards every other day can have some amazing results. Also be really careful pushing off the wall while doing laps. Good way to trash that new knee. I am a literally 51 weeks out of surgery and am still very careful on the wall turns.
