Cycling Guru ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Let's just say this ......... my frame/fork and wheels (without tires) alone cost me $4,100 out of pocket ...... and that is with buying the wheels at wholesale cost! The bike is complete Dura Ace (cranks and all) and I have an integrated carbon Vision Tech cockpit. That is a hell of a lot more cost added on. Yeah, it ain't cheap. But I love bikes!! Edit: Most have seen it before, many of you in person. Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I paid about $1200 for mine; haven't really added much onto it (not even bottle cages -- me and my bike are both so small that water bottles won't fit, lol!) I need to upgrade to big-girl pedals now that I am used to the difference between having a sweet-a$$ road bike and a beat-to- old behemoth of a hybrid, so that's probably going to end up being another $100 or so... |

Trust me this bike is sure pretty I've seen it in person several times. Rick had to beat me back with a stick cause I started to drool all over it. |

Aside from a $75 saddle, I haven't added to it. |

Cycling Guru ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() All my bikes have always been works-in-progress. This is my roadie that started life as a Giant TCR C-Zero with full Dura Ace that has since morphed and converted itself over to ............ a Scott CR-1 with SRAM Red (or at least enough to make it shift right) and anything and everything light I can get for it that won't compromise strength. Cubefarmgopher is the current owner of the Giant frame. Here is the latest pic I have of her before I did the shifter swap to Red, and with that mod. the complete 58cm bike weighs in at 14.09 lbs. (without the seat bag). And this one is a slight bit less expensive than the Felt (at least until I get the uber-light tubular wheels and lose another whole pound from the build!!). Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hmmm... Racked in T1, quite a bit, because if it isn't there, I DNF. Overcoming the psychological wounds would be expensive. What did I pay? What I was willing to spend. For my tri-bike, that was a used Klein Aeolus. For my road bike, I jumped on the Javelin deal last year and picked up a Fara. What would it cost to replace? Substantially more than I paid for either bike. I got the Fara because it was too good a deal to pass up, and an equivalent replacement would be 2X (or more). If I had to replace it, I'm not sure I'd spend 2X or take a step down to stay under my $$ pain threshold. What someone else would pay to get it from me? Dunno...hopefully in the same range as what I paid, although realistically, it'd probably be less. Luckily, most of you put much more expensive bikes in T1, so potential thieves, unless they have a specific shopping list, would walk right past my rides. Hey, I did spend $100 for a new set of wheels (including tires) for my Klein this winter in preparation for IMCdA. I figured it was easier to get a new wheel with a freehub and an 8-speed cassette than to find an 8-speed freewheel with the gearing I wanted. The front wheel was a bonus since the display set including tires was cheaper than a new rear wheel. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought mine used so I paid less than the original retail cost (or MSRP). And I bought some wheels second hand but that had never been used (bike store employees just seem to get stuff and sell them at the VeloSwap in Denver). I selected what my cost was to buy the bike and wheels and not original cost. I'm sure the whole setup is worth less today. |

Rick I'm sure you can get under 14lbs if you take that silly frame pump off. HA! |
