bel83 - 2012-11-07 1:52 PM I am right with the OP here actually. I love my Job. It has it's challenges and tough days but when all the chips are played, the good far outweighs any bad and I am happy to come to work each day.

Nice summation of my feelings.

Commercial loan portfolio manager for a regional bank. Not the most glamorous career out there, but I do enjoy it.

I thought I was the only one that loved his/her job.  I'm a mechanical engineer.  The products I design are in the consumer market.  Nearly every day I get to solve some puzzle.  The bigger the problem, generally, the more interesting the solution.

Today I'm spending the day putting together a presentation, so today may be an exception.

I think I bug my friends and family, because I Sunday nights I’m actually looking forward to going to work in the morning.

 This.

For those who love your work, please share what you do!  I am in the same category as Im Sore and I am looking for other options.

I'm a freelance software developer and have the most incredible work right now that allows me to work from home.  I've never been happier and it doesn't even feel like work since I enjoy it so much.  Sure I could make more money working a fulltime gig but having the opportunity to go S/B/R whenever I want is well worth any extra money I could make.  I can also work anywhere as long as I have my laptop with me so that allows me to travel to destination races and not worry about having enough vacation.  I am very lucky and do not take it forgranted.  I only hope it continues because I truly am the happiest I've ever been with work.

Ok, so how did you get started doing enough freelance that you could walk away from the day job, and how hard is it to keep work coming in?

I would LOVE to be able to sit at home and code all day and be able to skip driving to the office.

I work for a fine art appraisal and auction company in business development.

There are Monday mornings where - like a lot of people - I don't feel like going to work but then I get here and I'm happy.  People are great - both staff and clients.   I get to see some really beautiful things and when it comes together it's very rewarding.

Last week a sculpture sold for over a $100K over asking and is now one of the most highest valued Canadian sculptures.  I got to tell the seller - he was VERY happy with the news

Me too. I’m a recruiter for a growing, successful, in-demand company, so I get to interview and hire interesting people every day.

There’s nothing better than making that phone call and offering someone a job they really want. My favorite moments are the ones where you can tell that the person is really excited but they’re trying to hold it together on the phone. And you know that as soon as you hang up, they’re going to be screaming and jumping for joy around their apartment.

I  was never able to work in the field I really wanted to, who knew that being a trust-fund baby required your parents to be rich.

Luck!  Seriously, I was doing a little side work alreaady but not enough to leave my day job then all of a sudden I got an incredible opportunity to work on another project and out of know where another project came alone.  At that point I had to decide between keeping my day job and turning down the extra work or taking the leap and hoping for the best.  So I took the leap and it has worked out great.  There are times I get nervous and would like the false sense of security of a full-time job but the perks of working from home more than make up for it.  Hopefully I can continue some work with one particular company and then find smaller porjects here and there to fill the gap.  I honestly have no idea how to find new work since most of it has just kind of happened.

Im in the loving my job camp... I am in industrial maintenance at a Toyota car manufacturing plant. I am the guy that fixes the robots when they break, as well as programing them. I also do a lot of repairs/programming on CNC mills, lathes, and grinders doing precision engine component machining holding tolerances of .0002mm.... Sometimes stressful, but always rewarding!

Auto manufacturing is interesting.  I lived in San Antonio when the Toyota plant was just built and opened and worked for a company that did some IT consulting out there.  I wrote a couple of programs for them and it was so interesting getting to see the plant and how it all works.  The programs seemed very simple from a UI standpoint but the logic in the code was crazy.

Yeah, its pretty amazing. Everything has to be simple enough for a retarded chimp to be able to run it, but that makes everything behind the screens rediculously complex...
