I had a bike ride all planned and now my hubby wants us to go phone shopping. Nooooooooooo!

Can't you do both? I'm going to do a brick before my wife gets out of bed then go get my haircut and see some old friends before hanging with the wife because she now wants to go buy her 1,821st pair of shoes.

Haven't seen ads to know what's on sale Friday.  Figure they'll be in Thursday's paper.

Been out a few times on Black Friday.  Usually successful as I'm not after the one loss-leader that everyone else wants.

I've scored:
silk long underware ($10 at Gander Mountain)
Cashmere sweater ($50 at a Dept. store)

without much effort.

I put 4-5 CD's back on the shelf and walked out of Best Buy empty handed rather than wait in an hour-long line.

I have a swim (or a bike or run).  will do that in the morning.  Then hit the internet to buy most of my gifts, have them wrapped (worth the $1 on amazon.com) and delivered to their end destinations.  Maybe head to the mall in the evening when the lunatics have left.

I need to find a grey wool skirt for winter.  Would be nice to find a pair of shoes too, 3" heels, but tough to find in my size in the store.  Mail order for those.  And some nail polish too.

My husband has been obsessed with researching all the Black Friday "underground" deals/ sale leaks on the web, and decided to buy now, and go back to the stores that will honor the Black Friday sale prices. So he did his big shopping already. I will not make any special effort on that day to get up any earlier, but I will probably go out at some point.

I used to go out every year with my mom and sister. My dad and brother would meest us at the mall for lunch and then somewhere else for dinner.  We left the house at 3-4 am, stopped for bkft and hit the stores when they opened. We closed them down too!!! Now that I'm older, I'm much less likely to try that.  I find that I hate the crowds if I'm trying to shop.  I do like to people watch though--would make my dad proud to know that!!!

Okay, who is venturing out for some Madhouse Black Friday Shopping?  And, how early do you start?

Oh yeah, Not me.

DAM DAM DAM!!!!  No intention of heading out tomorrow.  Wife is headed to her office for a half day and I'm staying home so I get, "Since you'll be home tomorrow (as she shows me a sale ad)...."    My reply, "You're really testing my LOVE aren't you?"

It isn't too bad of an shopping assignment, I just didn't want to deal with any stores on Black Friday.

I hate shopping! Except on the web from the comfort of my sofa.

So, I'm planning on sleeping in, walking the dog, going for a swim, some sushi for lunch, and a short run in the afternoon. Sounds like a perfectly peaceful alternative to the mall!

Last time I went I couldn't find my way to the entrance because due to some construction they had changed all the access roads around. I hadn't been there for over two years...

No Black Friday shopping for me

I also used to work retail and it's not so much that I feel guilty, but more that I can't stand the crowds

and besides, isn't that why the internet was invented?

If you have that much discipline to buy only what you really need and would buy that anyway - it makes sense, otherwise you end up spending too much $$$ on things that are cheap, but which you don't need.

So I'm staying at home, no self discipline here...

When the wife's alarm went off at 6am I heard on the radio that at 4am State Street (main shopping row in Rockford) the traffic looked like 3pm on a weekday.   OUCH!!!

Upside to our 7 month old daughter puking 4 times last night is that since she's stayed home with me I don't have to go out in the madness.

P.S.  She hasn't puked since 3:30am.

mr2tony - 2007-11-20 11:17 AM MRS2Tony used to work at Kohl's in Omaha. The store opened at 5 a.m. She had to be there by 4:30. So she arrived about 4:15 and there was a HUGE mass of people in front of the door so she started picking her way through these idiots and one lady grabbed her and said `You can't cut in line! SHE'S TRYING TO CUT IN LINE!!!' and started pushing her back. She said `I'm an employee you fu**ing idiot!' and the lady, all startled, let go of her. Not only until after my wife, by now all ruffled up from being pushed around by these pathetic people, got into the store did she realize that she likely could be fired if the lady said anything to her boss. Like she cared. It was a second job where she worked once a week. People get STUPID on that day and I try to avoid them altogether.

1. I would have jack-slapped the b*tch if she would have grabbed me.  You touch me, you'll get it back.
2. It wasn't technically worktime so boss shouldn't have any right to fire her.
3. Customer doesn't have the right to touch an employee.
4. Employee has a right to arrive SAFELY to place of employement.  If employee was faced with an unpleasant situation, then employer should be ready to handle a counter-lawsuit of not preparing a safe environment or protecting their employees for these situations.

I'm all for protecting the poor people that have to work on and deal with idiots on that day.

I was up around 4 a.m. to see if I could pick up a Wii system at American.  Nope - wasn't happening.  The 16 they had went in less than 30 min. and I was about another 30 min. deep in the line.  Bummer.

Came back home, snuggled in with my youngest who woke up, and slept another 1-1/2 while the wife went to work.

Hre's mine...  I started feeling sick last night with the head cold crud.  So... at like 830pm my son receives a phone call telling him that Sports Authority has a sale on paintball guns ("markers" at 70 bucks off.  Since his Bday is soon, that's it.  So.... I search for the ad and it's an EARLY sale.  argh!  So I tell son that he has to drag his butt out of bed and go with me.  I get sick through the night, no NyQuil to be had in the house, toss and turn all night, finally get out of bed at 430am, have coffee,  wake kid up at 5am.  No kid, wake him up again at 510am and I"m pissed off already.  So he's up like a bolt, we leave.  No traffic much, go to Sports Authority, not too bad, find the thing.  Also pick up a hammock for Tom that's on sale.

Stop at Chick Fil A for sustenance ("feed a cold" doesn't work).

Come home, take a nap till 930am. Wake up, attempt to put up tree, the tree holder base screws are shot so we go to HOme Depot and get some (taking old screws wiht us).  Go to bank, post office, gas, music store for bday present for kids' friend.  Starbucks for double espresso b/c at this point it's all I can do to stay awake....   get home the freakin' screws are too big.  So take the base with us to back to HD, get right screws after a guy helps us again.....

come home and the kids put the tree up for me while I do absolutely nothing.   I feel like crap run over...  and I'm really snitty.

I did buy some NyQuil too so I am gonna sleep like a rock tonight.

arghhhhhhhh.......
