I'm definately in for Papillion. Will register this week. No State Games for me. We will be leaving for Jamaica, swim training in the crystal clear water and training runs on the beach, on the Sunday after Papillion. Still highly considering doing the Longhorn Ironman 70.3 in Austin, which shouldn't get called early by rain I hope. Now that most of my traveling is done for the summer other than Jamaica, I ready to start seriously training again. Don't know how most of the people are able to get their training to fit in with their busy schedules. Still contemplating on doing a full iron in 2009. Not sure if I should wait until 2010 so I can get several half iron's and another year of training under my belt. Any thoughts?

I did one HIM before I signed up for my first full IM. Then I did two more before race day for IM. Training for a full IM is similar to a HIM, with the exception of the two months before the race. This is the time where bike and run times double. It is definately doable for you next year. The nice thing about signing up now is that it forces you to be ready, and train, by next year. Just do it!

Yeah I have a thought, DON"T BE A SALLY! sign up, do it! Don't make me go-it-alone. IMWI 2009. C'mon, you know you want to.

I'm doing Redman 140.6 in September. WHo's with me!!!???

There's no advantage to doing an IM branded race. It's like wearing Nike shoes -- just because everybody's heard of them doesn't make them better. They're just a brand name.

Okay so I did some research and you don't even have to sign up beforehand for the Seward 50-miler. It's on HWY 15 up to Brainard and back, so not too bad on hills, a lot of long, flat stretches, and if I remember right HWY 15 was recently re-done? Maybe that's wishful thinking.

I just ate a quarter of a watermelon.

I registered online today for the State Games tri, filled out the entry form for Papillion and will send that in tomorrow, and we sent in our stuff for the Pathfinder Duathlon [Fremont Days Du] today! I'm alive for one more month.

Thank you U.S. Government!

I just skimmed this thread and didn't see this ride listed - I just heard about it today and may do it - it is on Saturday - there are 3 routes (26mi, 46mi, or 66mi) or a family fun ride of about 8 mi.  Ride starts in Ft. Calhoun at 8 (family fun ride starts at 8:30) - Registration is from 7-7:45 in the fire department parking lot.  There will be a roving vehicle for people in need of assistance.  Cost is $20 - for all of the details see www.friendsofboyerdesoto.org

Renee -

Don't know if you caught the new thread but Tony wants to ride in SC Omaha/Bellevue on Saturday morning and Beth said she'd be in if someone was willing to hang back with her. Tony's a beastie on the bike and clips along around 18mph. Just wanted to throw that out there in case you didn't want to travel out to Ft. Calhoun to ride with a bunch of folks you don't know!

Shoot - I didn't see that anywhere and I would have loved to - but after posting this I told my co-worker I'd join him Saturday for this ride . . .  Traveling to Ft. Calhoun isn't so bad - WAY CLOSER than Wahoo, LOL!  My family actually lives out there . . .

Have a GREAT 4th ALL of you!!

Going to try and revive this thread.

I finished up my tri season this weekend. I'm looking at maybe doing the Governor's Cup again, our local Turkey Trot on thanksgiving, and anyother local races that may pop up.

Whats next for everybody else?

Omaha Corporate cup in about 3 weeks or so. ONLY because my 58 year-old mom is doing it [her first road race EVER and she's doing a 10K!!!] She was a smoker since her junior year of HS and quit only 5 years ago, so you do the math on that. After that I'm going to do like Andy said and spend the next three months getting fat and then the 7 months after that working it off! But really, just want to get my foot healed up finally so I can come back strong in 2009 and do ALL of my prescribed run training!

I think the next thing I'm doing is the Omaha Half Marathon (with an extra 5-7 miles thrown in that afternoon). Then I'm doing Race for the Cure and the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in October.

Mt. Crescent came under new management recently, so I'm not sure if the Bagel and Beer run is a go yet, but I'll probably do that one if it's available. Also thinking about the Living History Farms run in Iowa...anybody here ever done it?

Brian,

Many coaches would charge a fee for that kind of training advice. Hope you are feeling ok.

I am doing a 5K with my wife on Friday, then I am done for the season. Once Adi Kunalic starts drilling 'em into the endzone, I tend to lose my focus for working out on the weekends.
Go Huskers.

Hey your 5K, is that the tailgate one that Peak Performance is putting on? We were going to be at that except my wife has to go and do a half-mary Saturday in Grand Island

I've got Great Illini HIM on Sept. 6. I ditched Redman for this year because of lack of training. I like to push the limits a little but I don't want to do any permanant damage.

Oh yeah. I'm also doing the Mud Run at the vineyard in Springfield this Sunday. It'll be fun. I'm going to probably do the Omaha Marathon or half on Sept. 28, I haven't decided, and then the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 12. After that I'll probably do another local marathon (if I can find one) with some local Illinois people here with whom I've been dying to race and then probably either Phoenix or Las Vegas and then back to teh beginning of the year in Austin in mid-Feb.

Plus the local 10Ks and halves that come along. I'm beginning to really really love 5Ks, too.

Wow I'm shocked that you decided to bow out of Redman! Have fun at the mud run and make sure you post lots of pics!

Yeah, it is the Big Red Rally at Peak Performance in Omaha.

Tell Brynn good luck. I'm sure she'll do great.

Yeah! Did it last year. Don't expect to run fast at all because of sooooo many people. But I had the most fun on that race than any I have ever done. I also brought a water proof disposable camera along to take pictures of the insanity. I am signing up again this year. Just way too much fun to miss!
