But that would have been the case even if Gatorade still was the official drink, said Tom Ziebart who handled Gatorade at many Ironman events including in Kona. "This has to do with legal issues and not with Powerbar, so please don't blame Powerbar when you can't find a clothing drop-off tent at your next WTC race," said Ziebart. "You can clearly still swim at those races but the only events with official Ironman swims will be Arizona and Louisville where swimming is prohibited otherwise." Not sure what it will mean, but it may cause some logistics issues for some people if it is refering to the morning clothes bags. This would have been a pain at IMSG when it was 46* and you had to shuttle to the swim. It sounds like he is referring to swimming in the days before the race. Someone else can chime in here, but I think Gatorade was the sponsor of a clothing drop-off tent for this purpose. For liability purposes, you can see how WTC (or any organizer) would not want to create any inference that people were being invited on a practice swim or that such a thing was monitored if it was not. Gatorade definitely was the sponsor of the IM "practice swims" where they took place. |

I believe that refers to the practice swims Gatorade normally sponsors; where they have a dry clothes drop off while you swim. Not great wording, as my initial reaction was the same. *** Edited to add: whoops, didn't scroll to next page and see others had already covered this *** In regards to the new drink, I've been using the PB Endurance for a while, and prefer both the taste and the price ![]() Edited by PLMsbr 2010-05-28 2:05 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Start eating more bananas because powerbar provides little to no potassium in drink or gels whereas gatorade and gu do. Also watch the sodium of other foods you're eating because powerbar packs it into drink and gels big time. Not good nor bad, just have to make sure you balance everything correctly if you make changes to your nutrition products. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I haven't tried it yet, but I got my case today and two things have already disappointed me 1. That they only gave us one flavor. They couldn't put four of each in the box? 2. It's not in a sport bottle. If I want to drink this on the bike I will have to transfer it to another bottle. How are they going to hand it out during the race? |

It will have sports caps. I don't know why they sent us the product without the sports caps, but I guess I shouldn't complain about free stuff. |

"Dear Ford Ironman Louisville Athlete, As a Ford Ironman Louisville athlete, we are offering you a complimentary case of the new Ironman PERFORM sports drink to utilize during training. It should be arriving at your home by June 11. We want you to begin using this product in preparation for race day and would also like to offer you an exclusive discount, beginning June 8, available at both www.PowerBar.com andwww.ShopIronman.com for purchase of additional product. We wish you success in your preparation for Ford Ironman Louisville and look forward to your feedback on your experience with Ironman PERFORM. To purchase new Ironman PERFORM, visitwww.PowerBar.com or www.ShopIronman.com. *Special offer will be valid 6/8/10-10/30/10." Sure would be nice to get an email from Ironman Florida with this same offer. A complimentary case would be a good start. Wouldn't mind giving it a try. I got my case delivered Saturday. Sweet! I'll have to give it a try. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Anyone else have the issue of wanting a powder so we don't contribute to a great deal of bottles being added to the recycling dumps? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Anyone that got the ready to drink bottles compare the nutrition and ingredients to the Powerbar Endurance powder that is available? From a quick look seems they are the same calorie and carb count per serving. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Will this product ever come out in a powder? Or will we have to buy cases of premixed drinks everytime? That is really annoying! Hoping I'm wrong. |

From a quick look seems they are the same calorie and carb count per serving. It has the same calories and carbs. It appears they are the same basic drink except for the bottled version has less Magnesium and the flavors are different. I'm going to train with Powerbar Endurance (powder) for most of my rides, and the Powerbar Perform on a few just to make sure there aren't any issues. Here is a breakdown of the ingredients from slowtwitch. (thanks phatnot for the link) Edited by brown_dog_us 2010-06-09 5:39 AM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So......are they sending cases to IMOO participants? |
|

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just want to say that their special "deal" isn't very special after all. You get free shipping on orders over $75 that include Ironman Perform....So you could, in theory, load up on it in a single order (or pool in with others) and be done with it, right? No. The offer is limited to orders with no more than two cases of Perform (which only comes up to about half of the total you'd need for the free shipping). So, guess what? You'd have to load up on other Powerbar products......convenient. I know that WTC runs a very successful business but I really hope people stop buying their into crap at some point so they can stop gouging people. (This coming from someone who will likely have no restraint in the Ironman store following IM Louisville, but only because it will be my first ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ironman PERFORM will serve as the official sports drink for the following events in 2010: Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island, Ironman 70.3 Racine, Rohto Iroman 70.3 Miami, Ford Ironman Lake Placid, Ford Ironman Louisville, Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ford Ironman Florida and Ford Ironman Arizona. Additionally, both the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship and Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 events will include Ironman PERFORM on-course. As a Ford Ironman Louisville athlete, we are offering you a complimentary case of the new Ironman PERFORM sports drink to utilize during training. It should be arriving at your home by June 11. We want you to begin using this product in preparation for race day and would also like to offer you an exclusive discount, beginning June 8, available at both www.PowerBar.com andwww.ShopIronman.com for purchase of additional product. Anyone know if they are sending complimentary cases to those signed up for IMs other than Louiville? I've been looking for this product and can't seem to find it...I'd like to begin using it asap. Has anyone been buying this? Where? Thanks! ![]() (Oh. duh. looks like I can buy it online...But has anyone found it in a retail store? I'd like to avoid having to have my nutrition drink shipped to me...-thx) Edited by TriRx 2010-06-12 12:08 AM |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Got to train with my free bottles of the lemon-lime flavor Perform this morning. I put in a 93 mile ride using it the same way I use GE didn't change any other thing with my cliffblocks and salt tabs and felt fine GI wise. Legs got tired around mile 80. This was my longest ride to date so I was happy about that. Taste really wasn't an issue, I got used to it after one bottle. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() so whats the verdict on this new stuff? does it taste just like the Gatorade? worse? better? too personal of a Q to ask? Is it available in stores to buy? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() wstchstrTriathlete - 2010-06-14 11:08 AM so whats the verdict on this new stuff? does it taste just like the Gatorade? worse? better? too personal of a Q to ask? Is it available in stores to buy? Less sweet tasting than Gatorade Endurance which is a real plus. Everything else about taste is pretty subjective. The only place I know of to purchase it is through the Powerbar store online. There is a code for free shipping on orders of $75 or more than contain Perform but there is a 2 case limit per order on that deal so you'd have to buy a bunch of other crap. I've heard that since the nutrition and ingredients list is eerily similar to Powerbar's endurance formula, people are trying out the new stuff but training predominantly with the old stuff since it is available as a powder and is way cheaper. It sounds like the only significant difference between the two are the flavors. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The powder form of the new Powerbar Perform drink will be available in August. So if you can get enough RTD bottles to hold you til then, then it becomes a lot more reasonable. Of course, a lot of IMs will be over by then. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is now available in powdered form (as well as Ironman Restore, their corresponding recovery drink). Much cheaper and easier than RTD bottles, in my opinion. However, only limited flavors are in powdered form yet. |
