I like this much better than branding a big corporate logo on one's body!

JoshKaptur - 2009-09-15 8:53 AM Definitely one of the cooler tats I've seen.  I was trying to figure out how that red design equaled the run... and then BOOM I saw it in the negative space.  Like I sad - definitely awesome!

Agree on keeping the M-dot out of it, or hiding it in a subtle way... but take that with a grain of salt cuz it's your tat and your body and I think you should do whatever you want!

Hmmmm....Interesting points about leaving the M-Dot out in the future.  That might make it more fun without it, because then even some tri people will need to think about it before they get it.  In any event, it's a moot point unless I earn the 140.6 addition.  Smile

Thanks for all the great compliments! Smile

WOW!  That is the most amazing tattoo I have ever seen.  I love the design.  Who thought of it?  I am usually a fan of MDot tattoos even though it is a corporate logo, but if I were you I would leave it off.  Your tattoo looks better than any MDot.

Had to stare at it for a while before I saw the "run" portion of it, but I agree...really cool!

very cool! I was scrolling down to post a question about the run, now I get it... (I'm a little slow)
Me too... I didn't get it until I read the "focus on the not red", thank for that insight. Very cool design.

Perhaps you could use the M but the dot could be a smaller version of your current tat?  You will earn it.. you've gone past the point of no return.

Upon further reflection, I think you should turn it into an M-dot.  The circle you have is the dot.  Now just put a tiny little M under it... further subtlety about your cool tat but also making fun of the big heads (ego) of most people with the m-dot...

no offense to m-dot peeps - I'll probably get one some day too.

It's funny most people don't see the run at first - I had trouble figuring out the bike! Guess I've gotten too skinny-tire focused! This would be an especially awesome Xterra tat - there ya go, another goal for ya!

That's funny.  Even though the cycling part of the tat is black/grey, it wasn't intended to be treads, but that certainly works too.  Look close, and you can see spokes.

I found a logo that was similar on line, and had the artist rework it a bit.  The shop that did it is know in this area for doing exceptional work.  I'm really happy with it.

D@mn you!! I had all but forgotten about getting a tatoo after IMWI until I saw this, now I'm seriously reconsidering and thinking up a design off your effort. Nice work.

TriMyBest - 2009-09-14 8:02 PM

Here's my new tattoo!  The 70.3 is to the side so there's room for an M-Dot over the middle and a 140.6 over the right side.

Your tat is very cool, however I never would have seen the spokes, footprint or waves unless they were pointed out to me.  Seriously, I stared at that first post for a couple of minutes and couldn't figure it out.  I know, I'm a dumba$$.

OH! I get it! I had to turn my head sideways and put one foot up in the air, but it is totally there! I gotta say, I *was* wondering why the fat tires...

I still say you gotta do Xterra now!

I saw Tri OKC's logo at a race in Oklahoma 1000 times this weekend and thought of your tattoo
