"Smokin" by Boston.  

When I was at the end of my swimming career (summer 1999), my coach (who I had gone to a Boston concert with earlier in the summer) started letting me swim whatever I wanted.  I had always been a distance swimmer and decided to see what the 50m sprint was all about.  At the Ohio LC championships I swam pretty well in prelims and placed in the finals heat in the evening.  Just happened to know the music organizer for the finals event and asked if he'd play "Smokin" for our "walk out" song.  It happened, I ended up getting second place, which wasn't too bad for a former distance guy.  Ever since then, that song really gets me going.

I used to listen to this pre wrestling match.  "Out of my way I'm a running high..."  Bon Scott was outstanding.

When I run, I have a playlist on shuffle.  by far the best song for me is by a guy named Rick Pino, We are not alone.  Chills when it comes on at mile 19 of a training run.

I agree with "Smokin" by Boston but my favorite is "Don't Look Back" by Boston.  It is so appropriate!  This morning during my run, I could not get Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" out of my head.

Nothing has ever gotten me into a better state of mind for a race than "It's a beautiful day" by U2 as the sun comes up over the lake as we all tread water at the IMWI start!
