Subject: RE: DressingLara - 2006-11-21 8:00 AM Oh no you di'n't. Stuffing acts like a big ol' Salmonella sponge. If you don't cook it enough, it'll kill your guests. And the only way to cook it enough is by overcooking the bird. So if you stuff the bird, you either get dead guests or a dry bird. And nobody wants either of those things. Maybe you just don't know her guests.... I dunno. We've eaten it that way for a long time. I guess we've just been lucky. oh YES i DID... i don't overcook my bird so we're all eating the salmonella sponge.. none of us have ever gotten sick.. another way around it is to take all the stuffing out of the bird and bake it for an addl 10 min.. I have never eaten stuffing on thanksgiving that wasn't from the inside of a bird. And I have never gotten sick and the turkey has never been dry....This is the first year I will not be having Thanksgiving dinner...my moms going to my sister's husbands family instead of cooking and I don't cook so really not that excited about it, more excited about running the turkey trot that morning. Really going to miss the stuffing tho...without Oysters. |
