Great swim last night. Thanks Larry & Michelle for hosting this! It's been great to train in open water, and the dark blue buoy really helps to work on sighting

One question; how was that 2/10 measured? 1/10 from dive platform to buoy on a straight line? Just curious!

Swim Panic.....Get into as many open water swims as possible. Forget the nice warm pool after Memorial Day. Go to as many clinics as you can.  

And here are a couple of weird ones..they don't hurt if they don't work. There is a product called Rescue Remedy, a stress reliever. It is homeopathic. Also one called Gelsimium, helpful for stage fright.

I got the directions and am planning to be at this weeks swim.  Is the brick bike or run this week?

There is a buoy in the lake at the end opposite of the diving platform. One (tight) loop from platform to buoy and back equals approximately 2/10 of a mile. If you swim wide that will increase some. You can do whatever you want as far as the swim. Sign in, pay the insurance or show your USAT card, tip the lake staff and lifeguard (there are jars; usually throw a few dollars in each) and then do your workout. You can do as many or as few loops as you want in the time you have. It's pretty free form.

Any bike or run workouts are arranged separately by folks other than Larry or Michelle. Some tri teams will pre-plan a workout for before or after. Sometimes there is even tailgating to celebrate the unveiling of some Diva's custom built pink tri bike.

I have a couple of questions:

Are we swimming Thursday?  Is there an age limit?  My daughter is doing a kids tri and I wanted to get her used to open water.  She is a strong swimmer and I will be there with her.  Thoughts?

I justed wanted to echo the sentiments shared above.  Can't imagine what you guys are going through, but I hope that knowing how much your events are appreciated lends some support.  Hang in there.

Beginner here.

First, I would like to extend my condolences and prayers to the family of Mr. Hobgood.  I'd also like to extend prayers to Larry and Michele.  I personally know a member of their group who works for them and states, with great confidence, that Larry and Michele do a great job to make sure the events are well organized and safe for all the participants. 

 As a beginner and not a strong swimmer, the greatest fear is knowing your strength in open water.  With that said and at the risk of coming off as selfish, may you recommend another open water swim clinic held in the area since today's swim in south jersey is cancelled. 

I live in Bel Air, MD which is 30 minutes north of Baltimore.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
