Been out of town and this is the first post I come to!  I was needing a good laugh.  Missed the last couple of days training, but  I am back at it tonight for a run after I go thru the post.

We are awesome!
How many other people can turn whine sharing into wine (and food) sharing? We should write a self help book about positive thinking and make a million dollars to put into this site

Call me a snob, but I can only drink French or Italin wines along with Portugese ports. The Australians may be great a making kangaroo stew or crême de koala, but wine is not their strong point nor their tastiest.

ohhhhh...I'd have to agree to disagree with you on that. While I'm not a big wine drinker, or a drinker of anything for that matter, someone gave my husband a bottle of Shiraz from Rosemount Estates and I'd have to say it is by far my favorite of almost anything I've tried. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was when we finally got around to opening it. Hats off to Oz!

not being a connissuer, i am sure your right...they are def 'unbalanced' to a 'sometimes' whine drinker like myself - they have a strong tannic taste to me - kinda 'raw'. with an 'in your face' flavor..BUT thats how i like my beer and esspresso too...unbalanced.   give me a 100 IBU beer or an expresso from oily beans that reeks of skunk and i am very content...

im curious mach...what beer and coffee u drink?   i wonder if your wine tastes translate?

I have to agree on the Rosemount Shiraz. What a surprise find. A friend brought over a bottle for dinner one evening. The next day I went to the store and bought a 1/2 case.

How much is this stuff for a bottle? Now remember, I am not a drinker, and I had no idea what it was when I opened it. I was surprised that I even liked it so I went back to see the label. I had no idea where the bottle had even come from and my husband said a customer had given it to him (he makes house calls and fixes TVs). Knowing how happy people are to get their TV fixed before the SuperBowl, I made the assumption that it was an expensive bottle of wine. I hope I'm wrong. Oh, this was '98 show reserve.

Rosemount Show Reserve 1998 is NOT cheap. Probably anywhere from $75~$125 a bottle.

Ron, you will think me even more of a snob, but I do not drink beer; it smells like urine. I do, however, drink vast quantities of espresso...black, no cream, no tomatoes, no lattés, or frappés, just espresso by the potfull; I believe that the brand name is Azzura or something like and it is from Italy. Besides wine, port, and espresso, I love Amaretto; it's the only liqueur I really like. And as for the Shiraz, I am sure that it must be superior to just about anything I usually buy. As I only buy wine in the twenty dollar range, I stick to French and Italian and feel that I can't go very wrong. I must point out though that price is not always the best indicator; I bought a two hundred dollar bottle of Champagne a few years ago and found that I preferred the Proseco which cost less than one tenth that price.

ok...your an decent guy...pure unadulterated espresso - your my hero, truthfully i still dilute it with lots of sugar/milk..kinda wussy...although coffee is drunk in the raw.

what about tomatoes...who puts those in espresso?  i cant imagine!

back to the original whine, how's the knee today, Ellen?

To put in my (hic!) two scents--wine, yes; beer, no; hard cider, yes; port, yes; espresso, no (as I have no need of hair on my chest)

Wine – I’ll drink anything but do have a preference for expensive quality reds.

Beer – again I will drink most but my preference are the English ales – Timothy Taylor Landlord, Ruddles county, Directors, London Pride and Abbott ale being the quaffable ales for me - standards are set by the TT landlord. Any new beer will get tested by me and I totally failto understand how Newcastle Brown Ale can be considered a good beer in the USA. Its cheap pig swill.

Espresso – I fail to understand – you mean there are people who add stuff to it before they drink it?? That’s not the point of espresso is it?

Now I'm confused

A happy little brand of wine to try if you get the chance – Fat Bastard. Tried it because I loved the name – still drink it because I like the wine.

back to the original whine, how's the knee today, Ellen?

thanx for asking. Well, it's only sore a little at the injection site. The initial pain which sent me to the dr is just about gone. I can tell because before I couldn't cross my legs at my ankles. It just put my knee into such an angle that made it hurt but I can do that now. So now that the injection site soreness is almost gone as well, here comes injection #2 on wednesday. Only 1 more after that and I'll be home free for another 6 months

I'm hoping the next one isn't as bad so we can go skiing this weekend. Hey....I never said I was smart!

ELLEN?!?! This is amazing, look what you started- i haven't checked the site since you first posted this, and look how it's grown. AMAZING, glad to hear the knee is doing better- don't over do it on the physical activity. Look at where you were to begin with. How are the classes going? Make sure you take one that's about dealing with beligerant parents. As for me, I think i might be looking for a new career.... suggestions anyone?

as for the other comments on coffee and wine

WINE- love the reislings.... or anything on the non-dry side.
CIDER- Magner's all the way- i refuse to drink any other cider
COFFEE- love the smell, hate the taste, love the high-wired effects of it... thus i'll mask the taste with everything but tomatos [somebody mentioned this many replies ago.... i wonder what it would taste like]
BEER- not a fan
CHEESE- yes- am addicted to the stuff

those are my two dollars worth [inflation]... hope everyone's day has been at least sunshiny!

Wine? How come nobody has mentioned any of the excellent Spanish wines? If you like red, try a Ribera del Duero, and if you like white, an Albarino is for you. Cheese? Manchego, claro...

Sorry, I couldn't resist since we moved from Spain back to the States this summer. But really, try some of the Spanish wines. They're very good, and reasonably priced as well.
