Master 2299 New York | Subject: RE: I don't like Rachael Ray I was Giada would make up her mind on what language she uses when determining how she's going to pronounce ingredients. I majored in Italian in college, so I always enjoy hearing it, but come on...there's nothing wrong with referring to Parmeggiano-Reggiano as Parmesean cheese. Seriously. And not everything is "bright" and "bursting with flavor." Oh well...a lot of her dishes are quite tasty, despite the irritating factor of the show. |

I understand though. Those people cook almost everyday, tape a couple of shows a day. They must run out of adjectives pretty quickly. Although, I still cannot stand Rachael saying "Delish!" AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!! |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: I don't like Rachael Ray I absolutely love Rachael Ray - I actually watch both of the back to back shows almost every day (did I just admit to that??)... I don't get why people knock her for being 'perky' or saying things like EVOO or YUM-O (her web site is actually selling YUM-O shirts, hehe) - that's what makes her fun to me. I'd much rather watch a goofy, real person spilling stuff and dropping things and making up her own words (in other words, someone more like me) than a perfect chef doing things I could never duplicate. Just my .02 |

Just my .02 I think that's part of why I'm not as enthralled with her. I worked (briefly) as a cook in a restaurant, on top of several years of other hospitality jobs, so I'm sort of used to a different, non-homey style. But again, that's just my opinion as well, I'm not knocking yours at all. |

The thing I like about Rachael is that I've been able to successfully recreate a number of her recipes ... but without all the perkiness. |

Apparently our likes and dislikes are not related to the perkiness factor. Wonder what it is ... hmmm. I liked Sally Field in Smokey and the Bandit ... and Steel Magnolias ... but not much else. Well ... wasn't she in Sybil? That scared me because she reminded me of my mother in that. *snicker* |

All these extraneous, cutesy little phrases everywhere, but the recipes are decent. I've been thinking on this between ... you know ... working and working out ... and I think it's that Rachael works from a set of ingredients that I'm likely to find in my cabinet at any given time. She did an eggs in the nest thing with spicy marinara sauce the other day ... and I was able to make it from stuff that I had handy. It was GOOD, too. |

Expert 683 Lafayette, CA | Subject: RE: I don't like Rachael Ray I can take or leave Rachael Ray. I probably watch more Good Eats than anything else. However, the original Iron Chef is great. I got turned on it when it was on Japanese TV. My favorite line from the judges was when the Iron Chefs were challenged by a large British Chef. The topic was pork. As the British chef was cooking, one of the judges said something to the extent “he is cooking pork—like the pig that he is…” Love it! |

That is so mean and harsh! I think she is the prettiest person on tv and her smile is just so beautiful! I don't want to say mean things about Rachel Ray but she really is kinda nausiating with her perkiness. Oh, and my hubby loves Giada's gourmet dishes, especially her crab stuffed canolis (sp?). I think she makes food exciting. |
