Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors leslie, i have three. my oldest (boy) is 7 my middle (girl) is 3 and my *baby* (boy) just turned one at Christmas time. finding time for working out is HUGE! dh works swing so he's USUALLY here until noon-ish he gets called in a lot for overtime (law enforcement) so sometimes i have a great work out plan, and it falls apart when he leaves for work @ 330am. (i'm dedicated and all, but there's no way i'm running at 3am!!) i'm visiously competative though, so i make it work. actually, dh just filled my bike tires and lubed the chain, so i'm outta here, bbs (if i don't die of bike-attack) |

Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Julie, do you feel like sharing the Ironman tragedy that brought you here? I think it's good to find inspiration in all places. I am here because of my dad's spinal cord injury 20 years ago (he was a triathlete) and long story short, it took me a couple of decades to get my act together and find tri and this awesome community. |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors So me.
Lynne. 36. Married for almost 10 years. Living in Seattle area for almost 10 years. Originally from Bonnie Scotland. Nanny for 12 years. Not a mother yet (In other circumstances I am) Avid swimmer, love to bike but I suck at running pants. I started doing triathlons last year. My 1st was all indoor in April and I was hooked. So I came home and signed up for 3 more. In total I ended up doing 7. This year I'm upping it to some different things, more running events, more swimming events etc and a few Olympics.
My biggest goal/dream is to be able run and feel good about it and not stop every mile gasping for air or wishing I was dead. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors OMG!! i'm going to have to brick every single freaking day if i have ANY hope of placing AG in danskin!! CRAP!! that was MURDER on my legs!! oooh it hurt it hurt it hurt!! this is why ( i'm remembering now) i hate my bike. the one little grim satisfaction i had was on my way home from the bike- i passed one of my neighbors who was working in his yard. THEN when i was running home from the run thing, i passed him again ( i live on a loop kind of ) and he kind of did a double take when he saw me again. felt kind of good, considering EVERY thing else felt very very bad!! LOL julie, the thing with the milk is a good one! someone gave me the mental picture of cans of crisco. the big cans are three pounds so i've lost 16 (give or take) cans of crisco!! i LIKE to think of that a LOT!! it's a good thing! have any before and after pics?? i'll look and see if i have any. you know what i look like anyway since i bought that victorias secret stuff and posted that pic. (that sounds a lot worse than it was for anyone who didn't see the pic!! LOL) oh yeah, no pace booty for me today, had to go it alone maybe i'll get lucky and pace booty for tomorrows brick (urgh, already my legs are twitching at the thought) |

Extreme Veteran 1074 | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Hey folks, I am in for 10 hours total. Male, married, Chicago, 42. Ex drinker/smoker turned runner turned cyclist turned potential triathlete. Was signed up for Chicago triathlon last summer, got injured, never made it. Have been logging on this site for while now and have been on a few bike/swim and run challenges. Currently am participating in the 25 in 25 challenge and am down about 15 pounds since 1/1/08. Also currently nursing a pretty bad ankle sprain and hope it doesnt interfere with my ability to ride. I ride a Bianchi 928 carbon with Chorus components and Ksyrium SL wheels. I use a Campy Vento wheel on the trainer, which is where the bike has been--without fail--since Thanksgiving. Chicago may never thaw out. I have no tri bike, single speed or mountain bike. That's it. I put in for 10 hours, which would be all trainer. If it ever gets nice here and we can ride outside, I will have to adjust. Good luck everyone. |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Welcome! I was a graduate student at the University of Chicago from 85-91. Haven't been back since 93. This is my second season of triathlon. Last year I did my first, 2 sprints, and this year I'm signed up for 3. I'll also be doing a metric century ride in June to raise money for the American Diabetes Association . Last year I managed 1800 miles biked; this year I'm aiming for 2000+, including frequent bike commutes to work. Biking is still my favorite event but I've gotten to where I really enjoy swimming, too. Running is not so bad either. Edited by MDHillSlug 2008-02-29 3:17 PM |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors oooh! we should bike shop together! i have a 15 year old scwhinn mt bike that i bought brand new, and rode like a maniac for about 2 years. that was a LONG time ago though! actually, with the advice from cat (and a few others in my mentor group) i'm thinking i'll get some clip on aero bars, and some street tires on it, and that'll probably be it for THIS season, i found a cannondale that i fell in LOVE with late last year, but with the move and all, i don't have th $$ just now. maybe if all the house stuff goes well, i'll have a little more $$ in hand, and i can go out and get the bike of my dreams. (or of my arse! man my butt hurts just from my short ride this morning!!) this challenge is going to be....well, challenging. i am NOT good on my bike, and i'm going to need you guys to kick my BUTT out there!! |

Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors I didn't even think to post what sort of bike(s) I have! I have a Cannondale Women's Synapse II, bought it fresh last summer. It's blue and I love it, it is sooooooo fast! Currently it's awaiting pick up at the LBS for a messed up derailleur (due to my "DIY" attempt at gear adjustment). Should get it tomorrow after my trail run. I also have a Giant Mountain Bike, which I rode for many years as my only bike....I commuted 28 miles round trip for a long time on it...never knowing the speed I was missing! I still ride it if the weather is sketchy or if I just feel like something different, or if I am towing the kids in the bike trailer, as it won't hook onto the roadie. I also have a CycleOps trainer which I use once in a while if I cannot find any other way to ride! By the way, Lynne and I do a LOT of triathlons and running stuff together, in case you were unawares. Yes, we know each other in the REAL WORLD ! I actually found her on here and forced her into friendship. We are running together tomorrow, as a matter of fact. And I also believe we do a lot of 'guest starring' in each others photo albums! |
