You probably will not sleep the night before IMOO - Perfect. I had about 6 hours in the 3 days prior to lifetime, so hopefully I will get a little more than that before IMOO. That said, I threw up a few times at Lifetime. I really don't want to do the GI distress/upset thing at IMOO. It really sucked for a while on the bike for me, and that is usually my strength. Then I felt ok on the run, so who knows??? Anyhow, it was good to know I can have a craptacular day from a pure speed/feel point of view, and still have a really good time at the race. |

Expert 760 Mt. Morris, IL | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Hello all- As I start this there is 53 days, 11 hours, and 7 minutes until we send off (by the way my name is Ryan). This will be my second go at IMWI (first in cold rain of 06). My training is going (I guess that is about the best I can say). I missed a couple of key workouts this month and have had to resist fitting them in later. I am coaching myself (using the training bible) and it is going well. If the rain stays out of the area, I will be up on the bike course Friday July 18th for a couple of loops and a T-run. Lets get after this thing |

New user 78 | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Giving this thread a bump... How is everybody doing with training. Probably too busy to post. I haven't been logging my training on BT because I have everything logged elsewhere and don't have the time to log it twice. I'm looking forward to the next three weekends to be OVER! The volume is high right now. starting to get some nagging issues (IT Band, work, hot Dallas weather). I have made all my key workouts. Only missed one short ride or swim per week. My wife would like a social life again as I have been going to bed at 9pm every Friday and Saturday night since Memorial Day. I look forward to meeting some of you guys in Madison. Have fun training! |

Hopefully driving up to Madison to ride the course once or twice. I hear the hills are wicked. (I live in the flat lands where my only hill the overpass on the bike trail) |

Five months later here I am back at BT and working my way back into training, but IMOO is out for me this year- BOO!!! Good luck to everyone else.......... |

In regards to training for me, I think I'm on track. Had a monster session Yesterday and am interested to see what Steelhead gives me as my last prep race. Not looking forward to tapering...madness will rule! |

Veteran 509 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Training is going well. Sit hitting all my workouts, although my times are a bit slower than I had hoped. I blame the extreme tiredness I have been suffering since Racine and a week long visit from my mom. Hopefully a few early nights to bed early this week and I will be back to normal. I have three hard weeks planned including 112 miles on the course on Aug 2, two loops on Aug 9, and then the 200K at the dairyland dare on Aug 16 and we can't forget all of the long runs that accompany all that riding. Oh yeah, and the weekday workouts. I am getting more tired. I am just trying to focus on one day/one workout at a time in order to prevent the burn out I am seeing in several of my training partners. Happy training to everyone and hopefully I will see you all on the course over the next couple of weeks! Deanna |

Master 2571 Tiger's Den | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Well, I ran and rode my longest since my crash just before CDA. I rode 60 on saturday and 50 on Sunday. I ran 5 on Friday, 4 on Saturday, and 11 on Sunday. So I got 110 and 20 in over the weekend. I am exhausted. Training in late July in the south is a lot harder than my April and May mega training weekends. I actually took a siesta in my car during lunch. I don't think I've ever done that before. I follow up again with the ortho this week. Should be cleared to swim with both arms (though I might try to do some of that tonight a little early). Have a 90 on the schedule for next Saturday and next Sunday is 15. I expect to be back at my 100/20 weekend by August 9th or 16th. I'm ready for another nap.... |

Elite 3687 | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. So far so good. Had my final "triathlon test" on Sunday. Felt like I had a really good race. Plan was to do the HIM exactly as I would for MOO. Just practice nutrition, pacing and hydration. Welllll, I forgot my Infinit at home-can't get that just anywhere. Forgot my aerobottle and was unable to find one of those to buy. Had my heart rate in solid Z3 for most of the bike and Z4 for most of the run. So much for that plan. Despite all the screw-ups I PR'ed the distance by over 50 minutes from last year and feel great today. Last year I could hardly walk after my HIM. Hoping the final 3 weeks of tuff stuff goes ok. |

Extreme Veteran 456 Dana Point, California | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. I'm Larry Davidson from Dana Point, California; this will be IMW #2 for me (first one was 2006 in the VERY cold/windy/rain soaked event. I am in the M50-54 AG and was able to get a Kona slot at IMOO 2006; what a thrill for me. I have had a super busy year with racing, and have gotten in 3 Half Ironman so far this year. This weekend I will be doing the Aquabike (2.4M Swim/112M Bike) that is part of the Full Vineman up in Sonoma County. Training has been great, and I am looking forward to putting the finishing touches in my attempt to have a "peak performance" on 9-7-08! See you soon....

Expert 961 Illinois _ Chicago area | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. ARGG! Training has hit a minor snag. Have some sort of GI bug or something. Tummy issues and slight fever yesterday, a bit better today (no fever) but still a bit queasy. So far no training yesterday and today. I hope to do SOMETHING tomorrow. We'll see.... |

Regular 70 Romeoville , Illinois | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Hello everyone.....My name is Bob and I have done IMOO 06 and finished. I will leave it at that. lol. No really that was my first Ironman and WOW what an experience. I had the time of my life. Was scheduled for for IML last year, but injured hip did me in and did not even go. So back for more at IMOO. My age group is 30-34. This year training has been going well up till the last month when a groin injury arose. I don't care what is wrong with it Im going to race. I did the spirit of racine with it and did not give me many problems. Also with going threw a divorce and taking my two beautiful daughters on my days off I could not be happier with training. So I look forward to meeting everyone. And good luck to all at Madison. |

Veteran 509 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. MissKelly and I will be riding the course on Saturday. I believe a few of MissKelly's friends will also be joining us. We are starting from Fireman's Park and then riding the out and back to Madison followed by 2 loops. In other words, 112 miles of the course in the non-correct order. Not sure of our start time but probably somewhere between 7 and 7:30. |

Probably a 6:30am start doing the same method as instigator mentions (fireman's park to monona and back and two loops). Hope to see some of you out there. |

Veteran 136 Minnesota | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. Hey all, giving this a bump. I'm Beth, in Minneapolis, and IMOO 08 will be my first Ironman. Going in I was confident of my bike and swim, I knew I could work up to the distance, but I am worried about the run. I had a HIM at the end of July and that was the farthest I have ever run/walked in my life. I wasn't too terribly toasted, but the run went SLOWWWW and I had GI issues. So I am approaching Sept 7th with a mixture of terror and elation. Anyone have any resources as to what to wear, I have ideas, but can bike shorts be comfortable to run in for 26.2 miles? We can change clothes in transition right? I can't find any info as to where the special needs bags are placed either. Anyone have a link? |

Veteran 509 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: IMMOO-Who are we and how's the training going. In terms of special needs, do you know the bike/run courses? In general, special needs will be at the 1/2 way point on each course. For the bike, they are in the vicinity of the turn from Paoli onto Valley Road. For the run, it is on the capital square close to the turn around point. Hope this help! Deanna |

MADFOXZZ75 - 2008-08-14 5:41 AM Anyone have any resources as to what to wear, I have ideas, but can bike shorts be comfortable to run in for 26.2 miles? We can change clothes in transition right? I can't find any info as to where the special needs bags are placed either. Anyone have a link? The athlete guide won't be posted for a little while yet and it will contain details on special needs, transition areas etc. Be sure to bring sufficient clothing to cover a WIDE....no... HUGE... no.... IMMENSE spectrum of potential weather on race day - despite what the weather forecast may say. The past 3 years have seen very hot + windy (2005), cold, wet, windy (2006) and near perfect (2007). Be prepared for anything weather-wise. Better to bring it and not need it versus the other way around. You really need to start figuring out RIGHT NOW what you are going to run in and practice it on your long runs (if any remaining at this late stage). I wouldn't recommend running a marathon in traditional bike shorts. I would use tri shorts that you have practiced with or take the time in T2 to actually change into appropriate running shorts if you are not worried about the actual time it will take to do so. There will be changing rooms inside Monona Terrace when you go inside to pick up your transition bags. Good luck. If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at the video we produced on the IM WI venue.
