Made in Japan, Deep Purple got me through this week's boring treadmill runs caused by rain.
And I can't get that Cake song out of my head: "going the distance...going for speeed".

I LOVE Sarah Harmer - and no one down here in the states has heard of her!!! I knew you must be Canadian when I saw that on your list

This week I've been listening to a lot of Jack Johnson, Guster, Pat McGee Band, Pete Yorn, and Ray LaMontagne - mellow stuff cuz I've been stressed

This week, a bit different, still got the angry hard playlist, but this week was more mellow ( for me ):

Early U2, New Order, Pixies, Rancid, Paul Oakenfold, The Smiths, PJ Harvey

At work, to keep from strangling co-workers:

Beethoven ( Symphony No. 9 performed by CSO, Sonata No. 9 for violin performed by Itzhak Perlman )

Speaking of U2, I saw the spitting image of Bono at the coffeeshop this morning (even had goofy orange sunglasses on). It was kind of funny actually. If he'd had an accent, I would have asked for his autograph.

Okay, fellow Ani fans ... do you like her new stuff or her old stuff better? I started listening to her and going to her concerts from her second album, but I've been kind of lukewarm starting with some of up up up up up up up up up up up up and after. Besides, her concerts got too crowded and big after everyone else caught on.

Um, I like the old stuff better, but still like the new stuff better than most other new music I hear. I'm still lukewarm about "to the teeth", but have loved everything since. What I've found with her new music is that the first time I listen to the album, nuthin'.... then after that every listen gets better and better until I'm hooked on it. I'm still annoyed with all those weird little interludes she's taken to since "revelling/reckoning".

Nothing will ever beat "imperfectly" in my mind.

Edit: Oh, and I could give a poo less how big and crowded the concerts are, she is AMAZING live and worth every penny.

Oh yeah! That one rocks. Ties with Out of Range for me (playing now in the background). My sweetie says the same thing as you about her newer stuff. In fact, she's gone over to the dark side and never listens to the old stuff any more! I'm letting her reel me in to r/r whenever I'm in her car.

I know, I know. But it's hard to top sitting with maybe 100 people listening to her playing solo, unplugged, sitting on the edge of the stage. Sigh. Maybe I'll treat the other half and get tickets the next time she's in town ...

I guess I never got spoiled by small shows. :-) The first time I saw her was in 1997.

Out of range is definitely one of the best. That's actually the first album of hers I ever heard! No wonder I got hooked!!!!

Yes, pre-joshua tree U2. Boy, War, Under a Blood Red Sky, October.

I lost them after rattle & hum too, though All That You Can't Leave Behind and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb have brought me back. Never did like much of Achtung and the POP era.
