The no kicking talk was never good talk.. Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not so much that we don't need to kick but that we don't need to kick like "swimmers", ie, not a sprinter's kick. Unless you are passing someone, or sprinting for the end or something. They're all kicking steadily, but they're not kicking those big, forceful, water-churning kicks like the straight-up swimmers. But you shouldn't just be dragging your feet along either and if you have a bad kick, that's not very helpful either. (and for the record, I do not mean that we shouldn't train any different from "real" swimmers, etc, since I know the opinion of triathletes who do not train like swimmers.
