When I start from far enough back, it's easy to make big gains.

For the half IM distance I've cut my times by almost an hour and a half but that's not on the same course. On each course I've done, I've only improved 25 or 31 minutes. There's also a half hour faster half marathon but that was over two years. The times for my first full marathon and my first full IM have both left me lots of room for big improvements but I haven't gotten to the second race yet for either event.

Sylvan Lake 1/2 IM
'06 - 6:58
'07 - 6:33

GWN 1/2 IM
'07 - 6:05
'08 - 5:34

A local half marathon:
'06 - 2:22
'08 - 1:52

This is my first year of doing triathlons. Two of my races this season were part of a series, so same exact course but 10 weeks apart. I saw some huge time gains in my swimming and running, not so much in my biking. My time differences are as follows:

Total time:
First race: 1:44:38
2nd race: 1:37:24
Difference: 7:14

Swim (.5 miles):
First race: 20:12
2nd race: 15:44
Difference: 4:28 (WOAH!)

Bike (16 miles)
First race: 52:04
2nd race: 51:32
Difference: 32 seconds

Run (5K)
First race: 28:09
2nd race: 25:55
Difference: 2:14

Last year went from a 5:08 HIM to a 4:26 at the end of the year.

This year, I took almost an hour off of my IM time.  11:42 in '06 and went 10:44 this year at IM MOO.

My bike time for a sprint (12.4 miles) was 1:35 at the beginning of the year. My bike time for an olympic distance triathlon I did about a month ago was 1:35 for 25 miles!

NJ Olympic Tri - 2:37 to 2:23. Knocked 4 mins off my swim, and went from 20 to 22 MPH on the bike.

Probably my bike...but the race that was the same course really doesn't have comparison.  First time was on a hybrid in the pouring rain in about 57 min for 12 miles (yeah, sucky...chain dropped a couple miles in, total suckage)

Same course this year, roadie with aero bars clipped on.  Minor chain issue that I got off to check but no droppage....dropped my time by 12min.

My swim time hasn't improved much, though form has.

Run times remain consistent between high 9 to mid 10 min miles.  No speed records...but consistent.

Today: Mile run time (please don't laugh again) 11:27
Still unsure if I will make the 17 hour cut off for Ironman Florida but Im gonna give it the ole college try!!

Took 37 minutes off my bike time between Ironman Florida 70.3 2007 and Ironman Florida 70.3 2008.

Not bad for a big girl
