Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hey guys! Happy Halloween! Our challenge starts tomorrow! I still have 5 miles to get done for this months challenge. Eek! I hate that I left it for the last minute! Oh well. I'll get it done. Kathy, Newport Naval Station put on a great sprint this year. It was the first year they had the race there and it was very well run. I'll be doing it again next season. Okay, P.O.G.'s, I'm off to run. Catch you all later!!!! |

Master 1792 | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hi all. I'm from the central Arkansas area and just finished up my first season of tris. I completed 3 sprints and had a blast at all of them. Running is definately my weakest link, so I'm signed up for the Little Rock (1/2) Marathon in March. Hopefully with the 11 week training plan, I'll get better at running. If not, can't say that I didn't try. I too have a kiddo, a 4 year old son. I need this challenge to keep me going thru the month and counter some of those good 'ole turkey and dressing calories. Good luck everyone!!! |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge OK, since the teams are going to be uneven the winner for the challenge will be determined by a percentage instead of most points. I would hate for the team with the most team members win because of the unfair advantage. |

Master 1632 Almost Canada, WA | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hey All! So begins a new challenge ~ ok, tomorrow it begins. It's a great day to start considering trick or treating hasn't even started yet and I've already eaten more candy than I thought possible! Anyway, my name is Michelle and I am a total newbie to this site and to triathlons. I've "always" been active (the Army made me that way when I joined at 19) and after having my first baby 9 months ago I decided that while trying to get back in shape I will use this as an opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do ~ a triathlon. Blah, Blah, Blah...but I must add that I am living in Hawaii and will be for the next 3 years (hubby is still Army!) Let's all enjoy the candy tonight 'cuz tomorrow the a$$ whooping begins! Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hey team! Hope you all had a great Halloween! I had a good time with the kiddos trick or treatin around the neighborhood. It's always fun to see all the other kids all dressed up and the parents dragging behind! We have way too much candy but the kids will take care of that for me! I hope to get a work out of some sort in today to kick off our first day! Have a great weekend guys! |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge We've got beautiful fall weather today, warmer than average, but I just couldn't get myself motivated to go out and ride. So, instead, I tried Pilates for the first time. I think it's really going to improve my core strength. |

Member 39 San Antonio, TX | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge I found my team!!! YAY!! OK, here I am. I am working towards my first tri next spring, and needed to lose weight and gain stamina and found this site! Since joining I have lost 40lbs, with 20lbs to go (some of that was baby weight though). I started off barely walking 3 miles an hour, and now I am running. I bought a bicycle and am training on that as well. Weird, when I lived in South Africa I couldn't afford a car and cycled everywhere - now it is the hardest thing for me to do! So, I made my challenge goal for October, 90 miles of walking/running, and now am totally up for this challenge. |

Master 1843 Roswell, GA | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge tlnewman30 - 2008-10-29 11:50 PM Just a quick reminder of the rules of the challenge. The goal of the challenge is to get 5 workouts of at minimum 30 minutes. The workout does not have to be one straight exercise or done all at once. What this means is as long as you get 30 minutes of exercise in the day it will count for the point. For example, if you run for 15 minutes in the morning and lift wieghts in the evening for 25 minutes for a total of 40 minutes you have enough time to be counted. Each workout that is successfully completed is worth a point. The time periods that you have to complete your workouts and have them counted are Nov 8th, Nov 15th, Nov 22nd, and Nov 30th. I will try to get a spreadsheet up to log the points in. As a bonus you can get one extra point for any two time periods. What this means for you is there is a total of 22 points out of 20 points total. Yes there is a chance to get an extra 10%. The team that gets the most points wins the challenge. Update 10/31 Here is a link to your team spreadsheet - P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC ChallengeIt is in a google spreadsheet the username is btchallenge the password is challenge forum just give a shout if you have any trouble! Let the games begin! Anyone know how you get the xtra point? Would it be if you do 6 or 7 sessions instead of 5 in a week? |

Can't decide what to do tomorrow...swim? Ride the trainer? I like to start my week off with the activity I am the worst at- I can approach it feeling fresh and get it out of the way before I get tired and lazy by the end of the week. |

So if you hit your 5 workouts and decide to get a 6th day in then you will get it. So potentially you can get 110% out of 100%. Any other questions please feel free to PM me since I don't always get around to all the other teams. |

Master 1632 Almost Canada, WA | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge So here I am logging my work out in at 10:00 at night. I wasn't able to get anything in today so I put Sam (my baby girl) to bed, went and changed, and dragged my tired a$$ to the gym...all so I make sure to get my work out in for today since I know I won't be able to do anything but walk on Tue and Wed. These challenges are sooooo addicting ~ they really keep me moving even when I normally would have said "to h.e.double hockey sticks with it!" |
