Subject: RE: Air Wingers Team Thread - Nov USMC ChallengeHi all- I'm writing this from my bed, as my newly-operated-on knee received an autograft ACL and some major meniscus repair Tuesday morning. I injured myself playing on a trampoline with my 4 an 6 year old nieces (I know, foolish) on 10/1, but their dad, my brother-in-law died very tragically on 9/2 and they wanted me to jump with them, so cut me some slack. I was registered and training to run in the NYC marathon tomorrow. My sister and friend are still racing. GO, KATE AND CHRIS!! Let's just say it's not been my favorite fall. SO---- anyway. I'm 4 days post-op. Been to PT once. On crutches and in a brace and need to spend 8-10 hours a day with my knee in the continuous passive motion machine, which I've gotten up to 80 degrees and need to work towards 90. Today, my 30 minutes will be 4 five minute sessions of leg extensions, leg flexions and trying to spark alive my quad muscle by flexing it with quad sets, plus 10 minutes of upper body with some weights. I think I'm still a bit too sore to get into ab work, but hopefully by some time next week. It is unbelievable to me how your quad simply DIES when your knee goes through trauma. DEAD DEAD DEAD. Looking forward to the challenge and its banter to keep myself committed to rehab and at least trying to focus on upper body and core when I'm able. Edited by aquinn 2008-11-01 10:58 AM
