Be thinking of how to set up your goals so they are trackable at a monthly scale and with numbers:
13 run sessions
31 days of daily food log
3 swims/wk = 15 swim sessions
10,000 yds
500 mi on bike

Not exactly sure how to do avoiding something, like the ice cream. Maybe 31 days with one cup or less of ice cream? That should work. Same for calories: 31 days of 1100-1300 net calories. If you go over or under, you don't get to count the day. Maybe give yourself a little leeway, so like 28 days or something. Remember the holidays!

I'm setting up the spreadsheet on a five week schedule, running Saturday to Friday. If you aren't at 40% by the end of week three (12/19, 60% done with month), you get coal in your stocking and are kicked out. Also, I set a little extra for the overachievers in the crowd - you can go up to 110%.

Oh, I forgot about the prizes! Winners get to display a winning line in their signature. Losers have to choose an avatar of their limiter (so a swimmer, or a pint of Ben & Jerry's, or whatever) for the month of January. If you don't want to stare at it all month, make sure you get it done!

Now taking requests for teams as well. Let me know if you want chatty or not, though I might have to break up any PT Freaks teammates!!

I love the bad avatar thing.

So is this starting Sat, Nov 29th?

Alright Slugger, you know I like to win and chat.  Soooo, put me on the winning team that loves to chat!

Goals.....

Run.  A lot.  Outside.

Hmmm, more specifically, 23 sessions of outdoor running.

After going to my first PT appointment yesterday, sticking to the PT plan is DEFINITELY going to be my challenge for December.  It is tough!!!  The plan for right now is 31 days of PT.  I'm supposed to do everything every day.  I do have another PT appointment on 12/5, so that may change (especially after my next doctor's appointment when we decide if I'm having knee surgery or not).  Hope that's ok.

Ooh, I haven't done a challenge in awhile, so I think I will jump in on this one. Not sure what limiter to pick yet, either biking or abs. I'm currently rehabbing with the running, but I don't consider that a limiter only because I CAN'T do it right now, and I otherwise love it. And I am working my way back very slowly and am eager to do so. Biking and abs, not so much. So I will pick one before the end of the month.

Just the limiter. You have to pick just one - the hardest one!

It'll start Dec 1. The weeks will run as thus:
12/01-12/05
12/06-12/12
12/13-12/19
12/20-12/26
12/27-12/31

I know it makes for a couple short weeks, but it was the best I could come up with.

Artemis, yep, we can talk about changing the goals depending on how your appt goes.

This is gonna be a FUN challenge!

Because I am feeling super-fat today, I think I will go for the bike goal. Not sure if I'll do it in mileage or sessions per week, though. Will think about that and post later.

I'm in. Running most definately, gotta get my mileage up.  I hate cold and I hate dreadmills, whine whine whine.

I am already committed to getting swim time in so I'll have to think about what my goals will be.

I'm in for swimming.

After Ironman Lake Placid, I took a break from swimming. I found a new a new swim coach and am dedicated to improving my technique.

My goal numbers of times swimming not distance or time as if my technique goes downhill I need to stop my workout.

Hi Slugger, Thanks for the challenge. Please put me on a relatively chatty team. I will set a swimming goal of some kind since I need to lay off my knee a bit, plus my swimming is bad.  Actually to quote MDHillSlug I'm "mediocre in 3 sports"  -Kathy

I need to get into the pool.... I've been avoiding getting into the pool.... It's COLD, which really makes me want to NOT get into the pool.... Therefore, yes, you guessed it:

Put me down for SWIMMING.

The gym will be closed for part of December, but I don't know the exact dates yet. Once I do, I'll set a yardage goal.

As for teams.... It's probably too much to ask for another WCPT team. (That was a fun month. LOL) So just stick me on any team where they won't be scared if I wave a taser around from time to time, or maybe zap a few people with a cattle prod.

Pssst, Slugger.... Let's have some fun.... When you set up the spreadsheet, go ahead and transpose those digits on her.

Uh, wait. Did I just type that out loud? Hm, where's the secret font when you need it?

Slugger -

Put me down for a strength goal.  I keep "forgetting" to do those pesky core exercises, yet the months I "remember" them I feel so much better.

12 sessions

OK I'm in, my limiter would def. be core workouts.  So I'm thinking 3 sessions a week would be a good challenge.  Also, I love a chatty team.

I'm gearing up for training to start Jan 1, but Dec will be good to work on my limiter - swimming. I'll figure a goal total.

And yes, chatty team for me too!

Put me down for 7 swim sessions. Tempted for 8, but the holidays... I haven't swam since August so anything will be an improvement.

Okay, since some of my biking will be done in spin class and possibly on the stationary bike at my parents' house over Christmas, I will go by sessions and not time/distance. Put me down for 20 sessions of biking.

I'm in.

I really need some motivation and hopefully this will do it. My goal for 2008 was to qualify for Age Group Nationals. Did not make it and have been moping around ever since mid September. Frown

Took most of October off from structured training thinking that maybe I was burned out, but have not been able to get back into the groove.

So I definitely need a challenge to get my training jump started. Running is my limiter, but I think that is mostly because I'm absolutely pooped by the time I get to the third leg of the tri. I'm going to focus on building a good foundation in December with strength training and core workouts.

Put me down for 14 core/strength sessions for the month.  Not going anywhere for the holidays and work is pretty slow, so I should be able to fit that in.
