Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have my appt this Sunday the 1st so will let you know how it goes. Reading up on what they are doing at Conte's in Bethesda looks like a pretty nice place. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm digging the cycle life place, but just to much money for me. But at this point, I'm wondering if I should move to a 3-D fit? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Not to sacrifice quality, but where is the cheapest place to get a fit in NOVA? My budget is low and my used bike only cost $300 so the thought of paying almost that much or more for fitting it is too much. I was thinking of just getting my wife to follow some of the online instructions. |

Most shops have a few different levels of fits that they do, most I have seen start at under 100 bucks.

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Had my fit done with Seth at Conte's in Bethesda yesterday. Took about 3 hrs or so. He did spend quite a bit of time on the pedals and watched me pedal for a bit and did some things to help correct my mechanics. He explained why and how he did everything which I liked. He told me to go out and ride for a week or so and then come back if we needed to make any adjustments and it was all included in the fit. IMO good fit, nice people there. |

Not to sacrifice quality? Really? At the very least, you'd do better taking into even somewhere like Spokes, or even Performance, and having them at least do some adjustments for you, rather than have your wife do it. For my bike when I started triathlon, I didn't have much of a budget either... I bought a cheap bike at Performance, and the guy there spent about 25 minutes with me fitting it to me, adjusting the seat, pedals, cleats, etc. Nothing close to a FIST fit, but better than what my wife would have done. good luck! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK so I finally figured it was time to just make an appointment---so I was looking over on ST (thanks for the point in that direction!!) and saw that they list Jeff Palmer as FIST and working at the Vienna Spokes so I gave them a call and YES he's there and does fittings...seemed nice on the phone and asked me a couple questions (what type of bike, any problems/why I want a fitting) and told me what to bring---said the most important thing was to bring him LOTS of questions---so I'm set-up for next Wed (3/11) for a fitting with him...I'll be sure to report back here how it goes! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() good stuff. I can't decide if i should wait till April and get a 3-D with Jay in Charlottesvillle, get a digital at the Cyclelife, or go get one at Conte's. decisions decisions decisions. Tell me why I should pay $125 extra for a digital vs. the one at Conte's. I really want to go to someone I can get to regularly if I have an issue. Jay is a GREAT guy, but I just changed my seat and now my settings off, I can't just run to UVA. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Turtlegirl---that's part of my reasoning for giving Spokes a try...it's the easiest for me to get to and at $150 is on the "cheap" end of fitting in this area from what I've heard/seen--not that cost is the end all of the decision but he's FIST certified (among others) and seemed with it when I talked to him. I was able to find an online review that said Jeff from Spokes was the man when it came to fitting......tell you in a week!! |

New user ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm scheduled for a fitting with Eric tomorrow at CycleLife. Just as an FYI, there are two levels of fittings they offer, a basic fitting is $100 and around 1 hr and then the "Pro" fitting which was referred to earlier which is $325 and about 3.5 hrs. Josh has been very responsive to me via email and got me setup with Eric. I'll follow up after the fit with details, but my initial impression is great customer service and very knowledgeable. Here is Josh's info for anyone interested: Joshua Frick General Manager/Performance Director CycleLife DC | 3255 K St, NW | Washington , DC 20007 202.333.8883 office | 301.213.6144 mobile www.cyclelifeusa.com [email protected] |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wanted to give some thanks to Clovis Anderson at Conte's of Arlington (Specialized BG Fit certified). Clovis spent a good 2 hours getting me fitted on my new Cervelo P1 that I bought there, using front and side video analysis, checking knee angle. Changes (aside from seat adjustment) included stem adjustment, aerobar positioning to help breathe better. It seems he's doing most of the fits (if not all) now in Arlington: he was doing them a few days prior, and he started with another scheduled fit after finishing mine. I'd definitely recommend Clovis. BTW, that ride this morning on the P1 was soooooooooooo sweet ![]() |

The guy knows his stuff. Very meticulous. I'd recommend him as well. I was a walk-in, with just a very quick question that I thought would take 10 minutes tops, and he spent an hour on me. Nice guy. |

Newleaf, I got one of their stock bikes: I had visited their store the prior week, Clovis eyeballed my size at that time, and confirmed the bike size during the fit. I dropped down the credit card after the fit was complete. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll 3x Clovis!!! I walked in there at the end of March and he quickly eyeballed me and put me on a P2C...I was back in less then a week to buy it and he did my full fit at that time (at least 2 hours). I was very happy with him---I liked that he took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He is VERY knowledgable. I've been riding my bike for a couple of months now and couldn't be happier---comfortable on long rides and fast without pain. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Skippy, glad to hear of your experience (validation is a nice thing). Clovis recommended going in for a follow-up for fine tuning after riding the bike for a while. Did you ever do a follow-up? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() About ready for my first official bike fit after spending a good amount of time in the saddle. I've tinkered with somethings myself, but I'm going to let a professional help me fine tune it. I've decided I'm going to use the bike shop in town, which charges $100/fit. They use lasers and stuff, in addition to some fine tuning after the fact. They are also right in town, which of course make them easy to get to and use. |

Clovis recommended going in for a follow-up for fine tuning after riding the bike for a while. Did you ever do a follow-up? He did mention the follow-up (he said to ride for a while...) but I haven't been back yet---he said to give it at least 500 miles or longer if it felt good...it's been well over 500 at this point and still feels great!! I should still probably touch base with him to see if HE sees something since's it's been 2 1/2 months since the original fit. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I did a basic (1 1/2 hr, didn't include cleat adjustment) fit with Jason Goyanko via Bonzai a couple of months ago and had a good experience. The fee was around $125. I had to buy new aerobars because my old ones were not adjustable and, it turned out, too small for me. Since then I've definitely been more comfortable in the tuck and have improved my times. They suggested a very high-end Fizik saddle (Fizik Arione Tri 2, which comes highly recommended from other sources as well, but was a bit too much $$ for me), but I decided to wait and see if I could find a used one for cheaper. I was able to find that saddle used on eBay for less than half the price so I'm glad I waited. They weren't high-pressure about me getting the seat there, however, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend Jason to others. |
