Count me in.  First race longer than an Oly since IMFL 2005.  How sad is that?

Im in.
Glad to have all summer to train in the heat for Sept. Just back from IM 70.3 Fla and the heat got to me at mile 4 of the run, legs tighten up and had to shut it down coming in.
Was on pace to go 5:45-5:50, finished at 5:57:51, still beat my goal of sub 6hrs.
Looking forward to running on flat asphalt after the african grassland run at Disney...nasty.

Good news- they repaved a small section of the bike course on Sand Bar Ferry Road.  Not sure if they are going to repave more of the road or just that smaller section.  I'll keep ya'll posted.  Hopefully they will- there's nothing better than riding on fresh, smooth asphalt!

LOL.  Maybe some of that "coolness" will rub off on me.  Any "afterparty" plans in the works?

After a late start Flying Tiger and I are getting things going again.  Ran 7 miler on Friday and 8 miles today, both under 10 min miles and with negative splits (that's good for this Clydesdale).  Long rides are around 40 miles now but we ought to be at HIM distance this coming weekend.  Cycling speed is toast since IMFL last year.  Starting to drop weight and I'm down to 217.  I hope to race at 200 for HIMAUG and 195 for B2B. We shall see!

Not yet- but I can plan something fun.  I guess I just nominated myself for the post race party??

Howdy Ya'll,
Could anyone provide a reasonable idea as to how fast the current typically is on the Augusta 70.3 point to point swim?  I'd like to shave the swim time anyway I can...

Safe training.

This is the inaugural year for this race so there would be no historical data.  And if I remember correctly from other posts that I have read on the GA forum (there is a very long thread about this race with lots of useful info as well as plenty that is a waste of time - http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=121953&posts=501&start=1), I don't think you're normally allowed to swim in the river there.  Could be wrong but I think I remember reading this somewhere.

That is pretty funny.  I have thought the same thing.  That thread has 531 post to it while this official thread has less than 40.  I keep thinking the people posting those useless post to that thing need to get a life.

Per mSN the avg daily temp in Augusta will be 82 for Sept 27th.  With high humidity its gonna be HOT so train for heat folks.  I think in the GA forum there is one woman who is a very good swimmer and she says the current will not really be a help so the swim will be, well, a nice long swim!

At this point, 82 sounds downright refreshing!

And for those of us who are not "very good" swimmers, that current may be more of a help. I'm still hoping.

I'm in too. This will be my second 70.3. I was originally planning to do the SC Half, but all the cool GA peeps are doing Augusta this year. I am doing this in my lead up to B2B full

well. I'm surprised at myself but i'm in.  I just finished IM CDA on sunday and I still have the itch to train and race. I thought I would be burned out but I can't stop thinking about still wanting to train and race. Trying to give myself ample recovery time then hit training again for augusta!  see you all there!

There's a thread in the general Triathlon Talk forum to connect people flying into Atlanta, with people from Atlanta who are driving to Augusta, for carpooling to the Ironman 70.3 Augusta.

Pardon me if this is "cross-posting", my intention was to post it as a separate thread, so as to not tie up this "official thread" with a minor logistical issue which doesn't concern most people.

Bike route is up on website, single loop, thank god.
We will be posting a date in mid-late july for a BT re-con ride of the course.
Planning on heading over and staying at moster-in-laws in Aiken.
Would love to have some BTers meet up for the ride. Most likely a mid-week event.

I plan on getting down to Augusta to ride the course prior to race day. Mid week is tough with my work schedule so may have to work in a Saturday ride working around the kid's softball schedule. I'll look for your post and maybe can schedule so time off.
