Three weeks ago I did a training run in the same area the race is going to be and I did it under one hour already... So now I am hoping for under 58 minutes. No clue if that is realistic or not.... We'll find out Saturday! ;-) |

RATKAT - you are a lock for a sub-58... was just looking at your log - you did almost 6.38 in an hour last weekend... if my math serves me that would equate to pretty darn close to a 58 minute 10k right there...

Uxbridge | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan I agree ratkat...you should be fine getting it done in sub 60 min. Today is a 2 hour bike and 30 min run. It will be a drainer ride(hopefully one of the last!) They are saying we will get temps in the 60's this weekend so maybe a little road trip this weekend!!! There is something about the dreadmill that I just dont like. I just finished my first half mary and I did all my training outside. On one run my water actually froze! Still I prefer to run outside. My son once told me"there is no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices" |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan Morning all.. rather, Afternoon all! I hate the dreadmill too, BUT, I hate cold weather more. I don't have the provisions to make good clothng choices, which is part of the problem. The other part is... I hate cold weather. Kathrin, you are going to speed through that race! I am totally re-looking at my plans for Olympic distance this Spring. It is a lot of time training that I just don't have right now. I get guilt if it is written down but I can't do the workout that day. My DH and I both have full time jobs and a tourist business (cottage rental) that cranks up this time of year. However, not to worry, I am still on plan for this months goals. I'll get er done this month anyway. I wish I knew how to rearrange the training plan in my log. I can only swim on Monday, Friday and Sunday and that is not when my log says I should swim.

Expert 919 Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan Good afternoon SHAMROCKS. Thanks for encouraging words for the race. The 6.38 was a treadmill without any increase and the race is not going to make it that easy for me, but I am hoping with the race excitement and some nice competition, it's going to work out at the end. Treadmill used to be the only thing that I did. These days I prefer outside runs much more, because it's just not that boring. But if I have to, I'll do it with some good music. The gym where I go, the treadmills used to be arranged to face the weight room... I always said that I am going to the zoo for half an hour, because I just enjoyed watching the people. But now they rearranged everything and the treadmills are facing a window with no view... So the choice of music is extremely important. @Robin: Quick question.... Any recommendations for nice hiking trails around Lake Lure? BF and I were talking about going to hike some over the weekend, because the weather is supposed to be so nice. |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan Hi Shamrocks! I think my legs are just about recovered from my half mary last weekend. Good thing too, because I have an 18 mile run tomorrow and a 3 1/2 hour bike Sat or Sunday. My numbers are a little low right now, but will be all caught up after the weekend miles. I made a team chart if anyone wants to use it, I'll post it in the next post. Happy training! |

Uxbridge | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan 2500 swim, 1 mile on the dreamill followed by 1 hour weights....DONE! Its pretty warm here, about 50*. I may take my bike off the trainer and go on the road. It will feel strange as there is still alot of snow on the ground. It will be slow as the roads are covered with sand. |

Sorry, I was away all day yesterday. There are a ton of trails but its hard to describe how to get to them because they are "private access". The easiest is either Rumbling bald cliffs trail or world's edge trail. If I were you I'd go to Brevard area and Hike in the Dupont state forest or The Gorges state park. |

Expert 919 Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan Hey Shamrocks, I am just coming back in from my race. I did the 10K in 58:43 mins. Didn't break the 58 as planned, but this is still a PR for me, because it's my first 10K race! I am happy with the time anyways. Change of plans about hiking.... We are going to take the bikes out for a ride in the afternoon. But I will keep the Georges State Park in mind for the next time. I like the Dupont Park too, but have been there several times already, so it's time to discover something new! |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: Team SHAMROCK: Stick to the plan I finished my 18 mile run yesterday. It really felt pretty good. I was getting pretty fatigued the last couple miles, but not bad. I did a really easy bike ride after and it felt great and seemed to help relax my legs. I have a 20 miler next weekend and then start tapering for the marathon. I hope my marathon goes as well as yesterdays run did! Today is an active recovery day. I went to yoga class at the club and soaked i the hot tub. Tomorrow is the long bike. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

Did 100yds swim on 2:00min intervals today and was able to continue despite the short rest (15sec) Last time i swam 100s on the short course i ended up having to lengthen my rest . We are already at 20% as a team . |
